A filter assembly has a housing with a housing inlet and a drain. A rotary vessel is rotatably mounted within the housing and has a rotary vessel inlet and a rotary vessel outlet. Fluid exiting the rotary vessel outlet exits the housing through the drain. A valve assembly moveable between a closed and an open configuration is provided. When closed, the valve assembly fluid-tightly seals rotary vessel inlet from housing inlet. When open, the rotary vessel inlet is in fluid communication with the housing inlet such that fluid flowing into the housing inlet passes into the rotary vessel inlet. The valve assembly is moveable from closed to open configuration when a pressure of fluid flowing into the housing inlet exceeds a threshold pressure. The filter assembly has a fluid passageway permitting air flow into the rotary vessel through the rotary vessel inlet when the valve assembly is closed.

SEALING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR A FILTRATION SYSTEM

A filter assembly includes a filter housing, a filter housing lid, a filter cartridge, an endplate, and a seal member. The filter housing defines a first cavity and comprises a return passage in fluid communication with the first cavity. The filter housing lid is selectively coupled to the filter housing and defines a second cavity coextensive with the first cavity. The filter cartridge is positioned within the first cavity. The endplate is coupled to a first end of the filter cartridge. The endplate is configured to interface with the filter housing. The seal member is coupled to the endplate and is configured to be received in the return passage. The endplate is configured to partially separate the filter housing from the filter cartridge.

The filter assembly further comprises a retainer loop comprising a retainer loop main body. A plurality of retainer arms extend axially from the retainer loop main body towards the gasket retainer. Each of the plurality of retainer arms comprise a retainer arm ledge extending radially towards the retainer loop main body and snap-fit to the gasket retainer ledge. A retainer loop sidewall extends from the main body away from the gasket retainer. An outer surface of the retainer loop sidewall defines a curvature. A sealing member is removably positioned around the outer surface of the retainer loop sidewall.

The insertion sleeve has a holding element radially outwardly arranged at the circumference. With inserted insertion sleeve, the holding element is arranged in the fastening region. The initially flexible material of the fastening region flows behind the holding element and forms a form fit connection with the holding element when hardened.

The filtering section includes a first filtering portion, a second filtering portion, a wall longitudinally separating the first filtering portion and the second filtering portion, a filtering outlet, and a valve located in the filtering outlet. The valve includes a closed condition and an open condition, and wherein, in the valve closed condition the valve blocks flow from the second filtering portion to the housing outlet.

An oil filter assembly for an engine of an outboard motor includes a base having a high-pressure inlet port, a filter-mounting interface for receiving a filter, and a drain-back port for receiving a drain-back insert of the filter. The base includes an engine-mounting interface for mounting the base to the engine, which includes a high-pressure outlet port and a low-pressure outlet port providing oil to the engine. The base provides fluid communication between the high-pressure inlet port and an inlet side of the filter and between an outlet side of the filter and the high-pressure outlet port when the filter is installed and the drain-back insert is within the drain-back port. The base provides fluid communication between the drain-back port and the low-pressure outlet port when the drain-back insert is not within the drain-back port. A clean oil fill passageway is in fluid communication with the low-pressure outlet port.
