A vehicle such as a terminal or yard tractor used for freight spotting is provided with one or more individual, portable LPG cylinders of the type used by forklifts facilitating tank swapping on an as-needed basis for reduced downtime. Each auxiliary cylinder is a portable, removable and replaceable cylinder having a fuel capacity less than that of the vehicle's primary tank. A controller interfaced to a sensor and a pump is operative to pump fuel from the auxiliary LPG cylinder and into the fuel line to refill the primary LPG tank when the fuel level of the primary tank falls below a predetermined level. The invention may be factory-installed onto the vehicle, or may be provided as a kit enabling an existing vehicle to be retrofitted with the auxiliary LPG cylinder(s).

Method for monitoring pressure including boil detection

Disclosed is a method for monitoring pressure, for a vessel assembly including a sealed vessel capable of holding a liquid, a filter capable of capturing vapors from the liquid, a pipe connecting the vessel to the filter, and an isolation valve arranged to selectively shut off the pipe, including a detection of the boiling of the liquid contained in the vessel.

Gas filling system

A gas delivery system including: a feeder for feeding a gas to a tank; a pressure storage container unit which has a plurality of pressure storage containers, and sends out the gas to the feeder; a gas supply unit; and a controller. The controller implements a storing operation that a specified pressure storage among the plurality of pressure storage containers is supplied with the gas until a pressure of the specified pressure storage container reaches a reference pressure or greater, after finish of a delivery of the gas to one tank carrier, and a sending operation that the gas is sent out from another pressure storage container except the specified pressure storage container to the feeder, and then sent out from the specified pressure storage container to the feeder on a receipt of a shift indication from the feeder, at a delivery of the gas to a subsequent tank carrier.

A system includes a source of pressurized fluid, a primary pressure vessel disposed in fluid communication with the source, and a supplemental pressure vessel disposed in fluid communication with the source and in fluid communication with the primary pressure vessel. The primary pressure vessel has a first life expectancy duration and includes a first structural characteristic. The supplemental pressure vessel has a second life expectancy duration shorter than the first life expectancy duration and includes a second structural characteristic. A method uses a supplemental pressure vessel to predict impending failure of a primary pressure vessel. The method includes connecting a primary pressure vessel to a source of pressurized fluid, fluidly connecting a supplemental pressure vessel with the source and with the primary pressure vessel, and exposing the supplemental pressure vessel to a first fatigue load to cause its failure before failure of the primary pressure vessel occurs.

INNOVATIVE THERMAL MANAGEMENT APPROACHES OF CONFORMABLE TANKS

A storage vessel includes a plurality of storage cells arranged in series. The storage vessel defines a first port that opens into at least one of the storage cells. A fill conduit is connected to the storage vessel at the port. A valve is connected with the fill conduit and is configured to control a supply of fluid through the fill conduit to fill the storage vessel. A heat sink is disposed in the storage vessel and is configured to reduce heat of the fluid during the fill of the storage vessel.

Active pressure and flow regulation system

In processes and systems utilizing a compressor to fill a vessel with gas, for example, in the filling of the fuel tank of a vehicle that operates on compressed natural gas (CNG), a number of advantages are realized by establishing independent control over the flow rate of gas discharged from the compressor, such as on the basis of the compressor discharge pressure, utilizing feedback from one or more gas pressure sensors. In representative embodiments, a detected or actual measured compressor discharge pressure can serve as a process variable, in a feedback control loop for regulating the output of the compressor.
