METHOD OF PROVIDING DOSES OF LIGHT SUFFICIENT TO DEACTIVATE DANGEROUS PATHOGENS THROUGHOUT A VOLUMETRIC SPACE OVER A PERIOD OF TIME
20230051102 · 2023-02-16 ·

A method of inactivating one or more pathogens in an environment. The method includes providing light from at least one lighting element of a lighting device installed in the environment, the at least one lighting element configured to provide light toward a target area in the environment, the provided light having at least a pathogen-inactivating first component in a first range of wavelengths of 400 nanometers to 420 nanometers. The pathogen-inactivating first component of light produces an irradiance of at least 0.01 mW/cm.sup.2 as measured at a surface in the target area that is unshielded from the lighting device and located at a distance of 1.5 meters from an external-most luminous surface of the lighting device. Providing the light causes the one or more pathogens to be inactivated.

An enclosure for recessed lighting, comprising a lateral wall, a top wall and a removable and re-attachable enclosure base, the enclosure base includes a light source, power supply, optic, heat sink and a collar. The enclosure may include an integral junction box, or hangar bar bracket, and one or more cutouts to reduce the possible interference between enclosure and joists in the installation vicinity. The enclosure may be made out of a 3D printable material, moldable material or plastic to facilitate ease of manufacture, reduction of parts, reduction of weight, and elimination of finish steps, such as paint. Multiple enclosures may be stacked for shipping or storage, and hanger bars may be affixed to the lateral wall for installation of the enclosure in a ceiling or wall without the need for a secondary bracket.

Method of providing doses of light sufficient to deactivate dangerous pathogens throughout a volumetric space over a period of time

A method of providing doses of light sufficient to deactivate bacteria throughout a volumetric space. The method includes: (1) receiving data associated with a desired illuminance level for the space, indicative of an estimated occupancy of the volumetric space over a pre-determined period of time, and indicative of dimensions of the space; (2) determining, based on the received data, an arrangement of one or more lighting fixtures in the volumetric space, the one or more lighting fixtures configured to at least partially emit disinfecting light having a wavelength of between 400 nm and 420 nm, and a total radiometric power to be applied via the one or more lighting fixtures to produce a desired power density at any exposed surface within the volumetric space during the period of time; and (3) installing the determined arrangement of one or more lighting fixtures in the volumetric space.

A recessed lighting fixture comprises a generally annular body having a central cavity in the form of a partially spherical socket. There is a lighting support member having a partially spherical exterior portion which is closely fitted within the partially spherical socket of the annular body. The lighting support member is pivotable relative to the annular body, but air flow between the partially spherical socket of the annular body and the partially spherical exterior portion of the lighting support member is substantially restricted. There may be a light source mounted to the lighting support member adjacent a bottom thereof. The light source may be a light-emitting diode.

MINIATURE LIGHTING MODULE AND LIGHTING FIXTURES USING SAME

A lighting module includes a heat sink having a sidewall and a partition that define a first cavity and a second cavity. A driver enclosure is disposed in the first cavity to electrically insulate a driver from the heat sink. The driver enclosure substantially fills and covers the first cavity. A light source that emits light is disposed in the second cavity together with an optical element that redirects the light. A retaining ring/optic cover covers and encloses the second cavity. The lighting module is shaped and/or dimensioned to fit into a space having a width less than 2.4 inches, a height less than 2.25 inches, and/or a volume as small as 18 cubic inches. The heat sink may also include a receptacle to couple a trim to thermally and electrically couple the trim to the heat sink to dissipate heat and to ground the trim.

Lighting apparatus having first and second ladder edges to prevent water from entering concealed space

A lighting apparatus includes a light source, a light passing cover, a back cover and a rim frame. The light source is used for emitting a light. The light passing cover has a first ladder edge. The rim frame has an inner frame and a light source holder. The back cover, the surface rim and the light passing cover define a concealed space. The light source is disposed in the light source holder in the concealed space. The inner frame defines a light opening for the light to escape from the lighting apparatus. The inner frame has a second ladder edge surrounding the light opening. The first ladder edge and the second ladder edge are pressed by the back cover to press to each other. Multiple ladder protrusion surfaces between the first ladder edge and the second ladder edge prevent water to enter the concealed space.
