A system may include a light source. A converter may be configured to convert an AC voltage to a DC operating voltage during normal operation. A power backup device may be coupled to the converter. A current source may have a first terminal configured to receive the DC operating voltage during regular operation and a second terminal configured to provide a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal to an anode end of the light source. A switching device may have a first connecting terminal coupled to the anode end of the light source, a second connecting terminal coupled to the power backup device, and a control terminal coupled to the converter. The switching device may be configured to open a switch between the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal during normal operation and close the switch upon detecting an interruption of the DC operating voltage at the control terminal.
LED-BASED EMERGENCY LIGHTING EQUIPMENT AND METHODOLOGY
A brown-out detection apparatus including a voltage sensing circuit, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The voltage sensing circuit senses an input AC voltage having a first nominal input voltage value or a second nominal input voltage value. The voltage sensing circuit includes an output outputting a reference DC voltage proportional said input AC voltage. The first circuit is responsive to said output of said voltage sensing circuit. The first circuit includes a first output outputting a first voltage value when said input AC voltage is below a threshold voltage level and a second voltage value when said input AC voltage is above said threshold level. The second circuit is responsive to said first output. The second circuit includes a second output outputting a second control signal indicative of a brown-out condition of said input AC voltage.
Illuminating assembly
An elongate tubular lighting assembly having a body with a length between spaced first and second ends. The tubular lighting assembly has a source of illumination and first and second connectors respectively at the first and second body ends. The first connector has cooperating first and second parts having first and second surfaces. The first and second connector parts are configured so that the first and second surfaces are placed in confronting relationship to prevent separation of the first and second connector parts with the body in an operative state as an incident of the first connector part moving relative to the second connector part from a position fully separated from the second connector part in a substantially straight path that is transverse to the length of the body into an engaged position.
