An illumination device, which comprises a light source and a battery to power the light source, provides improved light output without the need for complicated and therefore expensive optical arrangements by including a nonimaging light guide which collimates and optionally diffuses light emitted by the light source. In a particular embodiment of the invention these improvements are implemented in a multipurpose solar light which includes a solar panel, wherein the battery stores energy generated by the solar panel. The illumination device may comprise a casing having a front casing portion and a rear casing portion, wherein the nonimaging light guide is integrally formed with the front casing portion. The nonimaging light guide may have a shape comprising two conical frusta. Furthermore, the nonimaging light guide may comprise a recess in which the light source is located, the recess being larger than the light source such that there is a gap which permits airflow and in turn removal of heat from the light source as well as improved optical coupling.

The solar panel light assembly comprises a printed circuit board, a rechargeable battery and the LEDs both positioned on the first side of the printed circuit board, a solar panel positioned on the second side of the printed circuit board, a top cover covering all the above on the first side of the printed circuit board and a switch for switching on and off the LEDs. The housing assembly includes a housing. The solar panel light assembly and the housing assembly can be detached and attached freely. The solar panel light assembly and the housing assembly are produced independently and can be freely matched, which is easy to manufacture and can be combined in various forms.

MODULAR DECK LIGHT

The body includes a top plate extending between a first leg and a second leg. An LED light and a battery may each be disposed within the body between the core and the cover. Each of the legs of the core may define a clamping member, with the clamping members in mirror-image pairs across from one-another for securing the deck light assembly upon the deck railing, and each clamping member having a V-shaped cross-section with a top portion extending downwardly and inwardly away from the associated leg to a knuckle, and with a bottom portion extending downwardly from the knuckle and outwardly toward the associated leg. The clamping members may be flexible outwardly for allowing the deck light assembly to be easily removed or repositioned on the deck railing.

Reconfigurable Cornace Box Display System

A reconfigurable modular cornice box display system includes a cornice box having a front member, a left member and a right member which collectively form an outwardly facing display surface. One or more decor pieces can be selectively positioned and magnetically affixed anywhere on the display surface. The decor pieces are magnetically affixed to discrete elements arrayed in the cornice box. A decor piece illumination system includes a tri-color back light source and a magnetic sensor associated with each of said discrete elements operative to sense the magnetic coupling of a given decor piece to a given discrete element and to back illuminate said given décor piece. An electronic control system selectively activates the décor piece illumination system in response to operator inputs and microprocessor based programming instructions. A flood light assembly is disposed within said cornice box which is longitudinally and rotationally repositionable. The light sources are tri-color devices.
