Illumination optical system with tunable beam angle
An illumination optical system with a tunable beam angle (IOSTBA) is presented to achieve different beam angles without changing parts. The IOSTBA includes a light source and a post having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end in optical communication with the light source, an internal area of the post having a reflective surface. Also shown is a diffuser disposed across the end of the post, the diffuser in optical communication with the post and a reflector surrounding a portion of the post, the reflector movable along a length of the post. A position of the reflector along the post determines a beam angle of a resulting light beam exiting the IOSTBA. The system features a simple and cost effective optical design which works with a variety of light sources, including color mixing and champing strategies.

Materials and optical components formed thereof that are suitable for use in a lighting apparatus to impart a color filtering effect to visible light. At least a portion of such an optical component is formed of a composite material comprising a polymeric matrix material and an inorganic particulate material that contributes a color filtering effect to visible light passing through the composite material, and the particulate material comprises a neodymium compound containing Nd.sup.3+ ions.
LIGHTING SYSTEM WITH LENS ASSEMBLY
According to at least one aspect, a lighting device is provided. The lighting device comprises a circuit board, an LED mounted to the circuit board that is configured to emit light with an angular CCT deviation, a lens assembly mounted to the circuit board over the LED and configured to receive the light emitted from the LED and reduce the angular CCT deviation of the light received from the LED to make a color temperature of the light received from the LED more uniform, and an elastomer encapsulating at least part of the circuit board that is separate and distinct from the lens assembly.
STRAIGHT TUBE TYPE LIGHT EMITTING DIODE LAMP
The present invention provides a straight tube type light emitting diode lamp with which high heat dissipation performance and high illuminance can be obtained. A cover (23) has a translucent cover (31) through which light emitted from an LED element (13) passes, and a first heat sink (33) coupled to a heat sink (15). A second heat sink (17) receives heat via a substrate (12), said heat having been generated from the LED element (13), and transmits the heat to a third heat sink (19). The third heat sink (19) extends toward the translucent cover (31) from one end, which serves as a coupling section coupled with the second heat sink (17), and the other end is coupled to the first heat sink (33). The LED element (13) is positioned on a center line (61) of the translucent cover (31) formed along a cross-section thereof.
Modular indirect suspended/ceiling mount fixture
A modular troffer-style fixture particularly well-suited for use with solid state light sources. The fixture comprises a reflector that includes parallel rails running along its length, providing a mount mechanism and structural support. An exposed heat sink is disposed proximate to the reflector. The portion of the heat sink facing the reflector functions as a mount surface for the light sources. The heat sink is hollow through the center in the longitudinal direction. The hollow portion defines a conduit through which electrical conductors can be run to power light emitters. One or more light sources disposed along the heat sink mount surface emit light toward the reflector where it can be mixed and/or shaped before it is emitted from the troffer as useful light. End caps are arranged at both ends of the reflector and heat sink, allowing for the easy connection of multiple units in a serial arrangement.
