Provided is a modular light fixture. The device includes a light shroud, a light fixture base having a first cylindrical housing, a second cylindrical housing, a quick disconnect with a pair of external pins, and a light fixture base supporting attachment that includes a pair of P-shaped channels. The shroud attaches to the first cylindrical housing, and the base attachment attaches to the base via the P-shaped channels and the first and second external pins. The shroud and base attachments can be interchanged as desired for use as a hanging light, an up light, a down light, a well light, a path light, a wash light, or any combination thereof. The device allows for quick and easy conversion of lights from one style to another without requiring an entirely new fixture, enables simple repairs, and lessens the number of items required to be stocked by an installer.

Solid-state luminaire for creating color gradients

A luminaire having an electronically adjustable light beam distribution to provide upward illumination creating color gradients on a ceiling. The color gradients may be in patterns that mimic color gradients of a sky, including, for example, color gradients that mimic sunrise, sunset, sun at different times of day, a rainy day, clouds, the sun, moon, etc. The color gradients may change over time and/or may include one or more objects, e.g. clouds, the sun, moon, etc. and/or may move and/or change over time to create a dynamic sky on the ceiling. Multiple luminaires may be controlled by a system controller to produce coordinated color gradients across the light distribution areas of the multiple luminaires.

Simplification of Data for Representing an Environment, Based on the Heights and Elevations of Polyhedrons that Define Structures Represented in the Data

A technique for simplifying structure data for representing an environment. Polyhedrons can make up structure data used in an application such as modeling, visualization, and navigation. Consequently, the operations that are performed on the data often involve determining, for each polyhedron that defines a structure such as a building, whether the polyhedron obstructs a line-of-sight line between a first point in space being considered in the application and a second point. In order to determine whether a polyhedron obstructs a line-of-sight line, a data-processing system operating on the structure data must determine whether any walls of the polyhedron intersect the line. Thus, the more polyhedrons there are or the more vertices that are in each polyhedron, the more walls there are, and the more intersection checks are required, thereby adding to the computations. The disclosed technique reduces the number of walls by simplifying objects that make up the structure data.

Luminaire system with light distribution modifier

A luminaire system is provided that has directional light projection optics combined with a light distribution modifier to produce a non-uniform angular light intensity distribution from a single or array of light sources. The luminaire system provides for light intensity distribution with directional asymmetry meeting the specifications and requirements of aviation obstruction lights. The light distribution modifier component or subassembly redirects, scatters, refracts, diffracts and/or blocks part of the projection light in the distribution of the primary optics that would otherwise produce ground scatter. Unlike peripheral light shields at the marginal limits of the light distribution from the luminaire light system, the light distribution modifier is located near to the optical axis of the projection optics system.

Lighting apparatus

A lighting apparatus includes: a light source; a reflector plate which reflects light; and a diffuser plate which is light transmissive and is disposed to face the reflector plate. A gap between the diffuser plate and the reflector plate gradually decreases from a lower portion side of the diffuser plate and the reflector plate to an upper potion side of the diffuser plate and the reflector plate. The light source is disposed on the lower portion side to emit light toward the diffuser plate and the reflector plate.

Lighting device using light-emitting elements as light source

A lighting device includes a light source and first and second reflection surfaces. The first reflection surface reflects source light from the light source, and projects first light on first and second regions on an illuminated surface. The second region is closer to the lighting device than the first region. The second reflection surface is tinted in a prescribed color, and reflects secondary and higher-order reflection light of the source light, and projects second light on the second region. An absolute value of a difference between correlated color temperatures of the first light projected on the first region and of mixed light of the first and second lights projected on the second region is smaller than an absolute value of a difference between correlated color temperatures of the first light projected on the first region and of the first light projected on the second region.
