An insulating unit seals the opening of the accommodating cavity for preventing accidental electric shocks when a user cleans or maintains the lamp structure. Placing the lamp board inside the accommodating cavity, the space occupied by the lamp board on the base may be saved. The insulating unit may prevent foreign matters or water from contacting the lamp board and resulting in short circuit or failure in the lamp board. One or more heat dissipating unit may be disposed in the accommodating cavity and used as the heat dissipating structure for the lamp board. A recess may be disposed on an inner side of the accommodating cavity. The recess communicates with the accommodating cavity. A capacitor may be disposed in the recess and connected electrically to the lamp board.

A light source device according to the present invention comprises: an LED package having multiple LED elements mounted on the upper surface of a printed circuit board; and an LED package cover having multiple coupling holes into which the multiple LED elements mounted on the LED package are inserted, respectively, the LED package cover covering a part of the upper surface of the printed circuit board, which is exposed between the multiple LED elements. The LED package cover having a lusterless surface is used to insert the LED elements mounted on the LED package into the coupling holes and to cover same, thereby preventing light bleeding inspection erroneous detections caused by exposure of elements, wires, or soldering parts on side surfaces of the LED elements. The LED package cover has the same height as that of the LED elements of the LED package, thereby preventing the LED elements from being damaged by exposure to the outside.

An illumination assembly is electrically coupled to both the operational mode selector and the power source. The illumination assembly has a primary light source with a light emitter that emits light axially along a longitudinal axis of the main body or housing through a lens. A secondary light source with a light emitter emits light substantially perpendicular to the axis to illuminate an indicia located in a side region of the illumination assembly. During operation of the portable lighting device, the components of the illumination assembly are arranged such that: (i) the primary light source does not illuminate the indicia, (ii) the secondary light source does not emit light through the lens, (iii) an appreciable amount of light emitted from the primary light source does not mix with light that is emitted from the secondary light source within the portable lighting device, and (iv) an appreciable amount of light emitted from the secondary light source does not mix with light that is emitted from the primary light source within the portable lighting device.
