The light engine includes a number of light engine modules, and a support frame for movably mounting the light engine modules, where each light engine module comprises one or more light sources. The support frame includes a number of movable components, the movable components of the support frame are mechanically engaged to the light engine modules, such that mechanical motion of the movable components of the support frame relative to each other can cause the motion of the light engine modules relative to each other. In addition, a lamp with a light engine is provided.
