An iris diaphragm comprises a stationary ring, a rotatable adjusting ring, and a plurality of shutter blades. The plurality of shutter blades forms a diaphragm aperture inside the stationary ring and rotation of the adjusting ring moves the shutter blades inside the stationary ring whereby the size of the diaphragm aperture can be changed. The shutter blades are formed as a flat opaque surface and at least one of the shutter blades comprises at least one transparent region formed in said opaque surface. A light fixture comprises such iris diaphragm arranged between a light source generating a light beam and an optical assembly configured to project the light beam along an optical axis.

Devices and methods for area lighting

Environmentally sealed optical systems, and methods for sealing them, are disclosed. Such optical systems include area lighting panels and other optical systems. For example, in one exemplary aspect of the invention, a sealed optical system includes a substrate having first and second light sources disposed thereon, and a light-shaping panel with first and second optics formed therein that are positioned (e.g., aligned) to receive light from the first and second light sources, respectively. A sealing membrane is disposed between the substrate and the light-shaping panel, with a first adhesive surface contacting the substrate and a second adhesive surface contacting the light-shaping panel. The sealing membrane has first and second openings formed therein that allow light to pass from the first and second light sources to the first and second optics, respectively, while allowing the sealing membrane to independently seal the light sources from one another and from the external environment.

DUAL-DISTRIBUTION LIGHTING DEVICE FOR LIGHTING SYSTEMS

Aspects are described for dual-distribution lighting devices. For example, a dual-distribution lighting device includes a forward-throw module with a first lighting element that can provide directional light, a wide-throw module with a second lighting element that can provide light with a wide distribution, an interface element that can to receive input, and a processing device. In response to the input being received via the interface element, the processing device deactivates one of the forward-throw and wide-throw modules and activates the other of the forward-throw and wide-throw modules, thereby causing the dual-distribution lighting device to switch between providing directional light and a wide distribution of light.

LED HEATER SYSTEM AND METHOD

The present disclosure includes an apparatus and method relating to LED fixtures having an LED module capable of operating at a temperature. The LED module is also capable of being operated within a desired temperature range having an upper limit and a lower limit. A fan is operable for cooling the LED module when the temperature of the LED module approaches the upper limit. A heater is operable for heating the LED module when the temperature of the LED module approaches the lower limit. A heat sink may be in thermal communication with the LED module such that the fan may cool and the heater may heat the heat sink. The controller may also be configured to selectively activate the heater and the fan. The controller may also be in electrical communication with a temperature sensor which is in thermal communication with the LED module such that the controller may read the temperature of the LED module. The controller may activate the fan and/or the heater depending on the temperature of the LED module.

LIGHTING FIXTURE CONNECTION ASSEMBLY

A lighting fixture includes a driver, a heat sink assembly, a light generating assembly, a first connection assembly, and a first lead. The heat sink assembly is coupled to the driver and includes a base plate that defines a first through hole. The light generating assembly is secured to the base plate and includes a PCB, a plurality of LEDs, and a board cover. The PCB defines a first board hole therethrough. The plurality of LEDs are secured direction to the PCB. The board cover is positioned over the PCB and is fastened to the base plate. The first connection assembly includes a first connector that is secured directly to the PCB and that is in electrical communication with the plurality of LEDs. The first lead extends from the driver, through the first through hole, through the first board hole, and being captured by the first connector.

Ceiling-Based LED Auditorium Pathway Lighting Apparatus

Auditorium pathways, such as vertical and horizontal aisle ways, are illuminated by light fixtures located above the pathways, the light fixtures comprising a plurality of LEDs whose light is focused into a light beam of a width selected to illuminate the pathway. In one embodiment, the light beam is configured such that it may be disposed between a plurality of patrons and a stage or screen to illuminate a pathway while remaining invisible to the patrons.
