METHOD FOR PROCESSING WASTE USING LOW-TEMPERATURE PLASMA AND DEVICE THEREFOR
20230080243 · 2023-03-16 ·

A device for processing waste is described herein that comprises an ion generator, a furnace chamber, a heat exchanger, a pollution control system, and a chimney. The ion generator converts atmospheric air into an ionized gas and the furnace chamber thermally decays the waste by combining the waste with a product of an interaction of the ionized gas and heat generated by the furnace chamber. The heat exchanger cools the excess gas. A wet scrubber system removes heavy metals and/or acid gases from the cooled excess gas to generate scrubbed excess gas, and a fixed bed coke system detoxifies the scrubbed excess gas by converting carbon monoxide, water, and steam in the scrubbed excess gas to carbon dioxide and hydrogen, and removing remaining acid gas, a remaining heavy metal, and/or a remaining dioxin from the scrubbed excess gas. The chimney transfers remaining scrubbed excess gas out of the device.

Disclosed are a pollutant capturer and mobilizer and method of mobilizing a polluted gaseous substance from one location towards another location and capturing one or multiple types of polluting substances, such as CO.sub.2, from an atmospheric body of polluted gaseous substance or from exhaust of vehicles, chimneys, or stacks and thereby combat the negative health, environmental, and economic impacts of the of the polluting substances on communities. Wet or dry embodiments of the pollutant capturer and mobilizer utilize wet or dry pollutant capturing components, respectively, to capture one or multiple types of polluting substances from a body of polluted gaseous substance. Flow establishing devices can be used to set the body of polluted gaseous substance in motion through the pollutant capturing component. The pollutant capturer and mobilizer may also be mounted on any type of vehicles, with or without using flow establishing devices.

Waste-to-energy conversion system

A pyrolysis waste-to-energy conversion system has a muffle furnace housing a rotating retort drum within the furnace and having an inlet sleeve and an outlet sleeve extending through inlet and outlet ends of the muffle furnace. A rotating retort drum drive applies rotary drive to the inlet rotating retort drum sleeves and an in-feed auger is within a tube within the inlet sleeve. An out-feed auger is within a tube within the outlet sleeve and arranged to deliver char and pyrolysis syngas to a char processing system and a syngas processing system. The inlet sleeve and said outlet sleeve are arranged to provide a gas seal to prevent air ingress or syngas egress to and from the rotating retort drum. A gas cleaning system has a cracking tower arranged to retain inlet gas at an elevated temperature for a residence time, and a gas quench and scrubber system.

EFFLUENT GAS TREATMENT APPARATUS

Apparatus and methods are disclosed. The apparatus comprises: an abatement chamber of an abatement apparatus which treats an effluent stream from a semiconductor processing tool to provide a combusted effluent stream having effluent particles; and a first atomiser located downstream of the abatement chamber, the first atomiser being configured to produce droplets having a droplet size based on a particle size of the effluent particles to be removed from the combusted effluent stream. In this way, the atomizer may produce droplets which combine with or adhere to the effluent particles which assists in the removal of the effluent particles from the combusted effluent stream.

Waste treatment apparatus and method

In apparatus and method for waste treatment by pyrolysis, treated waste is flushed through a grid (18) to trap recyclable material in the pyrolysis chamber (24). Pyrolysis is carried out at a temperature of from 400-700° C. and off-gases are dissolved in a solution in scrubber (13) for disposal in a water course. Water is introduced into the chamber as superheated steam via pipes (5) so as both to flush away treated material and clean the chamber. Recyclable waste is separated from non-recyclable by treating non-recyclable waste by pyrolysis, and flushing treated non-recyclable waste away through liquid exhaust (8). Apparatus is made as a modular, free-standing unit and comprises plugs for connection to an electricity supply, to a water supply, and to a sewerage system (16) and has a chamber with a volume in the range 0.01-0.5 m.sup.3.
