MULTI-FUNCTION MONOLITHIC COMBUSTION LINER
A monolithic combustion liner for use in a gas turbine engine includes fuel channels integrated into the wall of the combustion liner. The integrated fuel channels can have an aerodynamic shape to reduce flow losses of cooling air flowing around the exterior of the combustion liner. The monolithic combustion liner allows more cooling air to flow around the combustion liner, increasing the cooling of the combustor region of the gas-turbine engine.
GAS TURBINE COMBUSTOR DOME WITH INTEGRATED FLARE SWIRLER
A swirler assembly includes a swirler having a primary swirler and a secondary swirler, and a flare connected the secondary swirler, and a dome disposed radially outward of the flare. A flare oxidizer flow passage is defined by a flare outer surface and a dome inner surface, and the flare oxidizer flow passage includes a swirl inducing member therewithin that induces a swirled flow of an oxidizer passing through the flare oxidizer flow passage into a combustion chamber.
TAPERED FUEL GALLERY FOR A FUEL NOZZLE
A fuel injector is provided for a turbine engine. This fuel injector includes a fuel nozzle, and the fuel nozzle includes a gallery, one or more feed passages and a plurality of exit passages. The gallery extends within the fuel nozzle circumferentially around an axis between a first end of the gallery and a second end of the gallery. A size of the gallery changes as the gallery extends circumferentially around the axis between the first end of the gallery and the second end of the gallery. The one or more feed passages extend within the fuel nozzle to the gallery. The one or more feed passages are configured to supply fuel to the gallery. The exit passages extend within the fuel nozzle from the gallery. The exit passages are configured to receive the fuel from the gallery.
INTEGRAL FUEL-NOZZLE AND MIXER WITH ANGLED JET-IN-CROSSFLOW FUEL INJECTION
A fuel system for a turbine engine. The fuel system includes a fuel/air mixer configured to mix air with fuel in a controlled fuel/air ratio, the fuel/air mixer having a body defining a chamber. The fuel system also includes a fuel nozzle in fluid communication with the fuel/air mixer. The fuel nozzle is configured to inject fuel into the chamber of the fuel/air mixer. The fuel nozzle is located forwardly relative to the body of the fuel/air mixer so that a jet-in-crossflow of the fuel is angled relative to a foot of the body of the fuel/air mixer.
Internal manifold for multipoint injection
A multipoint injection system includes a manifold with a plurality of flow passages defined through the manifold in the circumferential direction. The flow passages are spaced apart from one another in an axial direction. A plurality of feed arms extends radially inward from the manifold. Feed arm portions of the flow passages extend through each of the feed arms to respective outlets. The feed arm portions of the flow passages are within the axial width of the manifold. A plurality of injection nozzles are included, each in fluid communication with a respective one of the outlets. Each injection nozzle includes an air passage therethrough with an air inlet. The feed arms each follow a path that is circumferentially offset from the air inlets so each of the feed arms is clear from a flow path directly upstream in the axial direction of each of the air inlets.
TORCH IGNITER FOR A COMBUSTOR
An igniter for a combustor of a turbomachine includes a fuel inlet in fluid communication with a mixing plenum. The mixing plenum is positioned upstream of a mixing channel. An air inlet is in fluid communication with the mixing plenum and an ignition source is in operative communication with the mixing channel. The igniter may include a mounting flange configured for coupling the igniter to the combustor. The ignition source may be positioned proximate to a downstream end of the mixing channel and upstream of the mounting flange. The mixing channel may define a venturi shape. The venturi shape includes a converging section between an upstream end of the mixing channel and a venturi throat.
FUEL CIRCUIT FOR A FUEL INJECTOR
A fuel injector includes a forward end wall and an aft end wall. The fuel injector further includes side walls that extend between the forward end wall and the aft end wall. The forward end wall, the aft end wall, and the side walls collectively define an opening for passage of air. At least one fuel injection member is disposed within the opening and extends between the end walls. A fuel circuit is defined within the fuel injector. The fuel circuit includes an inlet plenum defined within the forward end wall of the fuel injector. The fuel circuit further includes a fuel passage that extends from, and is in fluid communication with, the inlet plenum. The fuel passage is defined within the at least one fuel injection member. The fuel passage has a cross-sectional area that varies along a length of the fuel injection member.
FURCATING PILOT PRE-MIXER FOR MAIN MINI-MIXER ARRAY IN A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A pilot pre-mixer for a gas turbine engine has a pilot body that includes an internal mixing chamber, a first end on an upstream side of the internal mixing chamber, a second end on a downstream side of the internal mixing chamber, a fuel injector at the first end and communicable with the internal mixing chamber, a plurality of first oxidizer inlet ports arranged to provide an oxidizer agent from outside of the pilot body to the internal mixing chamber, and a plurality of pilot outlet ports at the second end and communicable with the internal mixing chamber, each of the plurality of pilot outlet ports having an outlet on the second end for dispensing a pilot fluid mixture into a combustion zone of a combustor.
FUEL FEED PASSAGES FOR AN ATTRITABLE ENGINE
An additively manufactured attritable engine includes a compressor section, a combustion section, a turbine section, and an engine case wall, which surrounds the compressor section, the combustion section, and the turbine section. The engine case wall includes a first cavity embedded in the engine case wall that defines an injector that is in fluid communication with the combustion section. The engine case wall includes a second cavity embedded within the engine case wall and defines a fuel feed passage that is in thermal communication through the exterior surface of the engine case wall.
PASSIVE SECONDARY AIR ASSIST NOZZLES
An injection system includes an inner nozzle body defining a first air path along a longitudinal axis. The first air path defines a converging-diverging section between an upstream portion of the first air path and an outlet orifice of the first air path. A main orifice is defined at a narrowest portion of the converging-diverging section. A fuel circuit wall is outboard of the inner nozzle body. A fuel path is defined between the fuel circuit wall and the inner nozzle body. An outer nozzle body outboard of the fuel circuit wall has a second air path defined through the inner nozzle body for communication of air from the outer nozzle body into the first air path, wherein the second air path meets the first air path at a second orifice in the first air path downstream of the main orifice of the inner nozzle body.
