ENGINE WITH ROTATING DETONATION COMBUSTION SYSTEM
A Brayton cycle engine including a longitudinal wall extended along a lengthwise direction. The longitudinal wall defines a gas flowpath of the engine. An inner wall assembly is extended from the longitudinal wall into the gas flowpath. The inner wall assembly defines a detonation combustion region in the gas flowpath upstream of the inner wall assembly.
Combustion staging system
A combustion staging system for fuel injectors of a multi-stage combustor of a gas turbine engine. The system includes plural fuel injectors, each having respective pilot and mains injection stages. It further includes a splitting unit which, to perform staging control of the combustor, receives a metered fuel flow and, for pilot and mains operation, controllably splits the received fuel flow into a pilot flow for injecting at the pilot stages of the injectors and a mains flow for injecting at the mains stages of the injectors, and for pilot-only operation, controllably splits the received fuel flow into a first part of the pilot flow for injecting at the pilot stages of a first portion of the injectors and a second part of the pilot flow for injecting at the pilot stages of a second portion of the injectors.
RADIALLY ORIENTED INTERNALLY MOUNTED CONTINUOUS IGNITION DEVICE
An embodiment of a combustor for a gas turbine engine includes a combustor case, a combustor liner disposed within the combustor case, a fuel nozzle, and a torch igniter within the combustor case. The torch igniter includes a combustion chamber, a cap defining the upstream end of the combustion chamber and configured to receive a fuel injector and a surface igniter, a tip defining the downstream end of the combustion chamber, an annular igniter wall extending from the cap to the tip and defining a radial extent of the combustion chamber, a structural wall coaxial with and surrounding the igniter wall, and an outlet passage within the tip that fluidly connects the combustion chamber to the combustor. The torch igniter is situated such that the tip is mounted through the combustor liner, the combustion chamber is within the combustor case, and the cap extends through the combustor case.
Gas turbine fuel mixer comprising a plurality of mini tubes for generating a fuel-air mixture
A mixer for blending fuel and air in a combustor of a turbine engine. The mixer includes a central body having a central passageway and a central axis. The mixer includes a plurality of tubes positioned radially around the central axis and circumferentially around a periphery of the mixer. Each of the tubes of the mixer includes opposed openings and a tangential opening. Each of the tubes of the mixer includes a cylindrical interior mixing passage configured to receive air flow from the opposed openings and the tangential opening and a fuel flow. The opposed openings are configured to spread the fuel flow laterally and the tangential opening is configured to spread the fuel flow tangentially.
Pilot burner for combustor
A pilot burner for a combustor includes an inner conduit configured to deliver a fuel, and an outer conduit concentric with the inner conduit and configured to deliver air. An inner wall defines an inner plenum, and a partition wall is radially outward of the inner wall and defines an intermediate plenum with at least a portion of the inner wall. Exit passages fluidly couple the inner plenum to the intermediate plenum. An outer wall defines an outer plenum with at least a portion of the partition wall. A crossover section includes passages fluidly coupling the inner conduit to the outer plenum, and passages fluidly coupling the outer conduit to the inner plenum. An end plate includes openings to direct fuel, air for combustion, and air for cooling from the respective plenums.
GAS TURBINE COMBUSTOR HAVING SECONDARY FUEL NOZZLES WITH PLURAL PASSAGES FOR INJECTING A DILUENT AND A FUEL
A gas turbine engine including a compressor section, a combustor for combusting a fuel, and a turbine. Compressed air flows through a combustion liner of the combustor in a bulk airflow direction. The combustor includes a primary fuel nozzle and a secondary fuel nozzle. The secondary fuel nozzle is downstream of the primary fuel nozzle in the bulk airflow direction. The primary fuel nozzle is configured to inject a primary portion of the fuel into a primary combustion zone, and the secondary fuel nozzle is configured to inject a secondary portion of the fuel into a secondary combustion zone. The secondary combustion zone is located downstream of the primary combustion zone in the bulk airflow direction. The fuel may be one of diatomic hydrogen fuel and a hydrogen enriched fuel.

COMBUSTOR HAVING FUEL SWEEPING STRUCTURES
A combustor includes an end cover and at least one fuel nozzle extending from the end cover and at least partially surrounded by a combustion liner. The combustor further includes an outer sleeve spaced apart from and surrounding the combustion liner such that an annulus is defined therebetween. The combustor further includes a fuel injection assembly. The fuel injection assembly includes a fuel injector that extends through the outer sleeve, the annulus, and the combustion liner to the secondary combustion zone. A fuel supply conduit positioned outside of the outer sleeve. The fuel supply conduit extending to the fuel injector. A shielding assembly coupled to the outer sleeve and at least partially surrounding the fuel supply conduit. The at least one fuel sweep opening is defined in the outer sleeve and disposed within the shielding assembly.
Water injection
A gas turbine engine for an aircraft. The gas turbine comprises a combustor, a fuel injection system connected with a source of fuel and configured to inject fuel into the combustor, a water injection system connected with a source of water and which is configured to inject water into the combustor, and a control system. The control system is configured to identify an atmospheric condition; determine a water-fuel ratio for injection into the combustor of the gas turbine engine in response to the atmospheric condition; and control injection of fuel and water by the fuel injection system and the water injection system according to said water-fuel ratio to control an soot emissions caused by combustion of fuel therein.
Torch igniter for a combustor
An igniter for a combustor of a turbomachine includes a fuel inlet in fluid communication with a mixing plenum. The mixing plenum is positioned upstream of a mixing channel. An air inlet is in fluid communication with the mixing plenum and an ignition source is in operative communication with the mixing channel. The igniter may include a mounting flange configured for coupling the igniter to the combustor. The ignition source may be positioned proximate to a downstream end of the mixing channel and upstream of the mounting flange. The mixing channel may define a venturi shape. The venturi shape includes a converging section between an upstream end of the mixing channel and a venturi throat.
