Thermally compliant support for a combustion system

A support structure in a gas turbine combustor end cap (24) including a bracket (60) with a first leg (61) and a second leg (62) forming a generally trapezoidal geometry. Each leg has a first end (61A, 62A) attached to an inner concentric ring (46), and a second end (61B, 62B) attached to a crossbar (65). The crossbar is attached to an outer concentric ring (48). A circular array of such brackets interconnects the two concentric rings (46, 48). Each leg has at least one curved middle portion (63, 64), such as an arcuate or sinusoidal curve at a midpoint on the length of each leg. This shape provides flexibility in a radial direction that accommodates differential thermal expansion of the concentric rings while providing a rigid connection in an axial direction.

System and method for a turbine combustor

A system includes a turbine combustor that includes a head end portion having a head end chamber, a combustion portion having a combustion chamber disposed downstream from the head end chamber, a cap disposed between the head end chamber and the combustion chamber, and a flow distributor configured to distribute an exhaust flow circumferentially around the head end chamber. The flow distributor includes at least one exhaust gas flow path.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER

A gas turbine engine combustion chamber includes upstream and downstream ring structures and a plurality of circumferentially arranged combustion chamber segments. Each segment extends the full length of the combustion chamber and each segment is secured to the upstream ring structure and is mounted on the downstream ring structure. A frame structure at the downstream end of each segment has multiple spaced radially extending holes. The downstream end of each segment has an axially upstream extending groove and the downstream ring structure has an annular axially upstream extending hook which locates in the groove of each segment. A portion of the downstream ring structure abuts the frame structure of each segment. The downstream ring structure has multiple holes through the portion abutting the frame structure and segment is removably secured to the downstream ring structure by multiple fasteners locating in the holes in the segments and the downstream ring structure.

COMBUSTOR AND GAS TURBINE COMPRISING SAME

A sound attenuator includes part of a plate forming a combustion liner and an acoustic cover defining, in conjunction with this part of the plate, a space on the outer circumferential side of the combustion liner. A restrictor that reduces a gas flow path is provided inside the combustion liner. At least one through-hole penetrating from inside the combustion liner to the space is defined in the part of the plate. At least one of the through-holes in the sound attenuator is present within a region spanning from a position of a minimum restrictor diameter of the restrictor to positions, on an upstream side and a downstream side, at a distance equivalent to a minimum restrictor radius.

Integrated combustor and stage 1 nozzle in a gas turbine and method

An integrated combustor and stage one nozzle in a gas turbine includes a combustion chamber that receives premixed fuel and air from at least one fuel nozzle group at separate axial locations. The combustion chamber includes a liner and a transition piece that deliver hot combustion gas to the turbine. The stage one nozzle, the liner and the transition piece are integrated into a single part. At least one of the axial locations of the one or more fuel nozzle groups includes a plurality of small scale mixing devices that concentrate heat release and reduce flame length.

D5/D5A DF-42 double walled exit cone and splash plate

A combustor basket assembly for a gas turbine engine that includes a combustor basket having a basket liner including an input end and an output end. A double-wall exit cone is mounted to the output end of the basket liner, where the exit cone includes an inner wall and an outer wall defining an exit cone channel therebetween. A splash plate is mounted to the outer wall to define a splash plate channel between the splash plate and the basket liner. A series of pairs of cooling feed holes are provided through the basket liner, where one of the feed holes in each pair provides cooling air to the cone channel and the other feed hole provides cooling air to the splash plate channel. The outer surface of the outer wall and the inner surface of the inner wall are coated with a thermal barrier coating.
