ANNULAR COMBUSTOR DILUTION WITH SWIRL VANES FOR LOWER EMISSIONS
A combustor liner for a combustor of a gas turbine includes an outer liner and an inner liner. The outer liner has an annular outer liner slot dilution opening, with a plurality of outer liner swirl vanes disposed within the annular outer liner slot dilution opening. The inner liner of the combustor liner includes an annular inner liner slot dilution opening, and also includes a plurality of inner liner swirl vanes disposed within the annular inner liner slot dilution opening.
Impingement panel support structure and method of manufacture
An integrated combustor nozzle includes a combustion liner that extends between an inner liner segment and an outer liner segment along a radial direction. The combustion liner including a forward end portion, an aft end portion, a first side wall, and a second side wall. An impingement panel having an impingement plate disposed along an exterior surface of one of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment. The impingement plate defines a plurality of impingement apertures that direct coolant in discrete jets towards the exterior surface of the inner liner segment or the outer liner segment. The impingement panel includes an inlet portion that extends from the impingement plate to a collection duct. The impingement panel further includes a plurality of supports spaced apart from one another. The plurality of supports extend between, and are coupled to, the inlet portion, the collection duct, and the impingement plate.
COMBUSTOR LINER
A combustor liner used for a gas turbine combustor and forming a combustion chamber includes: an outer side wall made of metal; a panel attached to an inner side of the outer side wall and made of a ceramic matrix composite material, the panel including a panel body facing the combustion chamber, and a connection piece rising from an exterior surface of the panel body at a side portion of the panel body and protruding in a lateral direction; and a connection unit configured to connect the panel to the outer side wall, the connection unit including an elastic member configured to bias at least one of the outer side wall and the connection piece, and a fixation member made of metal and configured to fix at least one of the connection piece and the elastic member to the outer side wall.
Combustor system for high fuel/air ratio and reduced combustion dynamics
Combustor systems are provided. For example, a combustor system comprises a combustor having forward and aft ends and including annular inner and outer liners that each extend generally along an axial direction and define a combustion chamber therebetween. The combustor system also comprises a fuel nozzle having an outlet defined in an outlet end of the fuel nozzle and including a pilot swirler. The outlet is positioned at the forward end of the combustor to direct a fuel-air mixture into the combustion chamber. The combustor system further comprises a main mixer attached to the outlet end of the fuel nozzle and extending about the outlet. A total combustor airflow through the combustor comprises a pilot swirler airflow that is greater than about 14% of the total combustor airflow and a main mixer airflow that is less than about 50% of the total combustor airflow.

Monopropellant continuous detonation engines
Embodiments are directed toward a monopropellant continuous detonation engine. In some embodiments, the continuous detonation engine includes an engine body, a monopropellant feed assembly, and a detonation initiator. The engine body defines a detonation wave channel. The monopropellant feed assembly delivers monopropellant from a monopropellant storage tank into the detonation wave channel. The detonation initiator initiates continuous detonation of the monopropellant in the detonation wave channel, preferably without a catalyst to promote decomposition of the monopropellant. Accordingly, specific impulse is increased compared to constant-pressure reaction thrusters that catalytically decompose the monopropellant with deflagration combustion.
FUEL INJECTION FOR INTEGRAL COMBUSTOR AND TURBINE VANE
A system includes a combustor. The combustor has a combustor wall with a combustor dome at an upstream end of the combustor wall, and an outlet at a downstream end of the combustor wall opposite the upstream end. The combustor wall includes an inner wall portion and an outer wall portion defining an interior of the combustor therebetween. Each of the inner wall portion and outer wall portion extends from the combustor dome to the downstream end of the combustor wall. The combustor wall includes an air cooling passage embedded inside at least one of the inner wall portion and the outer wall portion. The air cooling passage extends from the upstream end of the combustor wall to the downstream end of the combustor wall.
COMBUSTION CHAMBER ASSEMBLY WITH COLLAR SECTION AT A MIXING AIR HOLE OF A COMBUSTION CHAMBER SHINGLE
A combustion chamber assembly includes a through hole on the combustion chamber wall bounded on an outer side of the wall by a hole edge and a combustion chamber shingle having a collar bounding a mixing air hole on the outer side of the wall and protruding with a first collar portion beyond the hole edge on the outer side of the wall. A cooling air opening is formed on an inner circumferential surface of a duct portion of the mixing air hole adjoining the first collar portion and extending in the direction of a combustion space, the cooling air opening leading into a cooling air duct which extends through the duct portion and via which cooling air is guided out of the mixing air hole in a direction of a hot side of the shingle facing the combustion space.
Reducing noise from a combustor of a gas turbine engine
A method of reducing noise from a combustor of a gas turbine engine includes the steps of establishing a maximum noise limit that may be for a particular frequency range. A primary fuel flow percentage, which may be emitted from a fuel nozzle arrangement having various groupings of simplex and duplex nozzles, is then established. An immersion depth measured between an aft rim of a swirler and a distal tip of the fuel nozzles may then be reduced thereby reducing the noise amplitude.
