Cooktop appliance and methods of operation

A cooktop appliance includes a first burner and a second burner which are spaced apart with a grate positioned above the burners. The grate includes a first sensor finger with a first temperature sensor over the first burner and a second sensor finger with a second temperature sensor over the second burner. The cooktop appliance also includes a first control valve and a second control valve which selectively direct fuel to the respective burners. A controller of the cooktop appliance is operably coupled to the temperature sensors and the control valves. The controller may be operable for and/or methods of operating the cooktop appliance may include receiving a set temperature, receiving a first temperature measurement from the first temperature sensor and a second temperature measurement from the second temperature sensor, and adjusting each control valve based on the set temperature and the corresponding temperature measurement.

Range with suspended cooktop

A slide-in or drop-in cooking range includes an upper cooktop in the form of a module suspended above an oven cavity. For installation purposes, the upper cooktop can be vertically repositioned relative to the oven cavity to assure proper alignment with the countertop and avoid damage to the cooktop as a result of combined thermal and mechanical stresses over time. The disclosure is particularly applicable to ranges employing glass cooktops having a periphery designed to rest upon edge portions of a countertop and contemplates various mechanisms to perform the cooktop repositioning function, including select mechanisms for locking, ratcheting and biasing the cooktop to establish a desired vertical position for the cooktop.

Glass-ceramic plate for a worktop or a piece of furniture

A novel glass-ceramic sheet intended in particular to be used as a surface of a furniture unit or as a worktop, the sheet includes, in at least one of its faces, at least one connection element of a height less than 10 cm and of which the cross section is inscribed inside a circle of a diameter less than 3 cm, the connection element being made from a material able to withstand at least 70° C. and including at least one fixing system allowing fixing along at least two axes or in two movements in particular obtained by at least two different translational or rotational movements or able to exert a force directed toward the glass-ceramic sheet. A worktop or a furniture unit incorporating the sheet, and to a method for mounting accessories or elements that are to be added to said sheet.

UNDERMOUNT COOKTOP ASSEMBLY

A cooktop assembly includes a countertop defining a cutout portion, and a countertop contact area is disposed proximate a perimeter of the cutout portion on a lower surface of the countertop. A cooktop defines a work portion, and a cooktop contact area is disposed proximate a perimeter of the work portion on an upper surface of the cooktop. An attachment assembly includes a first attachment member positionable on a first side of the cutout portion of the countertop. A second attachment member is positionable on a second side of the cutout portion of the countertop. The first and second sides are opposing sides, and the first and second attachment members are securable to the countertop and the cooktop to engage the countertop contact area with the cooktop contact area thereby securing the cooktop to the countertop.

METHOD FOR INSTALLING A COOKING SYSTEM

In a method for installing a cooking system, an orientation parameter is determined, at least semi-automatically, in the course of an orientation of a position of a heating unit of the cooking system in relation to a desired placement position which is provided for a placement item and defined by a cooktop plate of the cooking system, and the orientation parameter is taken into account during the orientation of the position of the heating unit relative to the desired placement position.

Hot surface igniters for cooktops

Hot surface igniter assemblies used in cooktops are shown and described. The hot surface igniters include a silicon nitride ceramic body with an embedded, resistive, heat-generating circuit. When energized, the circuit generates temperatures in excess of 2000° F. in under 4 seconds to ignite cooking gas such as natural gas. To prevent damage to the igniter during use or cleaning, an insulator assembly is provided which protects the distal end of the igniter ceramic body from damage while still exposing it to the cooking gas flow from the burner. In addition, a number of different terminal connection schemes for connecting the igniters to a power source are shown and described.

A cooktop appliance includes a panel with a first burner disposed on the panel and a second burner spaced apart from the first burner on the panel. A frame of the cooktop appliance is removably mounted to the panel. The frame is configured to selectively support two or more grates or a griddle plate over the first burner and the second burner. The cooktop appliance may include a first pogo pin terminal block positioned on the panel adjacent to the first burner and a second pogo pin terminal block positioned on the panel adjacent to the second burner. The frame may include a first sleeve which encloses first connectors of the first pogo pin terminal block and a second sleeve which encloses second connectors of the second pogo pin terminal block on four sides. The griddle plate or the grates may include two or more embedded temperature sensors.

The present embodiments provide for a stove which may be installed in a countertop mount or recessed configuration. The stove provides an end cap which is connected to or mounted adjacent to a front control panel. In one configuration, the end cap may be utilized in a configuration to receive a portion of the adjacent edges of the countertop. Alternatively, in flush fit configuration, the end caps may be closed so that no opening is clearly shown and the end caps are positioned adjacent to the countertop but do not receive such.
