Air circulation systems and methods
11692728 · 2023-07-04 · ·

Systems and methods for air flow circulation are described which utilize one or more air conditioning units as well as transfer grilles to move cooler air from one space to another. The transfer grilles can include bi-directional in-line fans to move air between spaces in discrete ducts located between the spaces. Motorized dampers can be controlled by a controller that receives information about various rooms and areas from temperature and occupancy sensors within those rooms or areas. In this manner, conditioned air can be directed to those rooms that are occupied and whose temperature needs correction based on a thermostat setting, and use of the air conditioning unit can be avoided when a cool air source is present in another space.

DISPLACEMENT VENTILATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes an air handling unit configured to condition an outdoor air flow to generate a ventilation air flow. The HVAC system includes a terminal unit fluidly coupled to the air handling unit. The terminal unit includes a plenum configured to receive the ventilation air flow and a blower configured to draw a return air flow from a space serviced by the HVAC system across a heat exchanger of the terminal unit and into the plenum to condition the return air flow. The blower is configured to mix the ventilation air flow and the return air flow to generate a supply air flow. A displacement ventilation (DV) diffuser is configured to receive the supply air flow. The DV diffuser is configured to direct the supply air flow through a filter of the DV diffuser and into the space.

Miniaturized Air Handler Assembly
20230003418 · 2023-01-05 ·

A miniaturized air handler assembly provides an air handler that resides completely on a drain pan, and comprises multiple panels. At least two panels join at the edges to form an enclosed chamber with central region. Two of the opposing panels are apertured to enable passage of air. Multiple coils carrying cooling fluid are disposed in a parallel relationship, and on the inner side, of the coil panels. A blower forces high velocity air through one or more opposing coil panels, and across the coils to cool the air. All of the condensate that inherently forms on the coils falls into the drain pan. From the coils, cooled air flows to central region of air handler. A fan at the top of the air handler draws the cooled air from an outlet opening that forms in a top panel for dispersing through a duct or plenum.
