An air conditioner includes a controller that controls a driving unit of the air conditioner. The controller includes a determination unit that determines necessity of a contaminant reduction operation of the air conditioner based on whether the air conditioner is in a non-cooling operation period, and a setting unit that sets a condensation operation condition for forming condensed water on a surface of an indoor heat exchanger of the air conditioner. The controller performs the contaminant reduction operation of the air conditioner based on a necessity determination result of the determination unit in accordance with the condensation operation condition set by the setting unit.

A dehumidification system includes an evaporator, a condenser positioned next to the evaporator, and a drain pan including a mist eliminator. The drain pan is disposed at least partially below the evaporator and the condenser. The drain pan at least includes a basin disposed at least partially below the evaporator. The basin includes a sloped bottom, a first rib disposed on the sloped bottom, a second rib parallel to the first rib and including a central gap, a third rib positioned between the first rib and the second rib, and an angled rib attached to the second rib. The third rib is parallel to and shorter than the first rib. The third rib is configured to at least partially block the central gap of the second rib. The angled rib is inclined towards the third rib and configured to change a velocity vector of the air flowing through the drain pan. The mist eliminator is configured to remove water droplets from the air.

A filtration device is configured to be connected to an existing condensate drain line of a heating, cooling, and ventilation system. The filtration device is configured to collect metal and other debris as the condensate moves through the device and prevents the condensate drain line from getting a clog. When a clog is present or other issues affect a level of condensate to rise in the device and stop from draining properly, the device is configured to shut off the heating, cooling, and ventilation system. Alternatively, the device is configured to provide an alternate pipe for drainage.

A system and method for the treatment and disposal of condensate, particularly acidic combustion condensate, are provided. A neutralizer connected with respect to a condensate flow can be used to treat the condensate flow to provide a supply of neutralized condensate to a transfer chamber. Neutralized condensate can be conveyed from the transfer chamber to an ultrasonic atomizer such as via capillary action by way of a wicking assembly. The ultrasonic atomizer is used to produce an atomized neutralized condensate that can be directly discharged or released at a controlled rate, decoupled from condensate generation, and appropriately disposed or utilized (e.g., humidification).

Systems and methods for inhibiting growth of fungi and other organisms in air treatment systems such as air conditioners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air washers. A pair of electrodes are brought into contact with liquid collected by a collection subsystem of the air treatment system. One of the electrodes includes a bio-inhibiting conductor. Electrical current is caused to pass between the electrodes, causing the bio-inhibiting conductor to be released into the collected liquid.

A drain cleaner apparatus for dispensing a cleaning composition into a condensate drain line of an air handler of an air conditioning system. The drain cleaner apparatus includes an apparatus reservoir configured to hold the cleaning composition, a connector interface configured to couple with the condensate drain line to cause an apparatus outlet of the drain cleaner apparatus to be in fluid communication with an opening of the condensate drain line, a dispenser device that is configured to be actuated to selectively dispense an amount of the cleaning composition from the apparatus reservoir and through the apparatus outlet, and a controller configured to actuate the dispenser device to cause the amount of the cleaning composition to be dispensed through the apparatus outlet without manual intervention.

An air conditioning drain line system is disclosed where the drain line includes an access connector pipe for inserting a chemical delivery strand of material into the drain pipes. The connector pipe may be a Y-shaped connector pipe and retain the strand. The strand may extend into the drain pipes and around an elbow in the pipes. The elbow may be designed to receive standard drain pipes into receiving inlets and create a smooth flow channel through the pipe without any elevational differences between the inner diameter of the elbow at the junction point of the elbow and the received pipes and the inner diameter of the received pipes.

A drain pan includes a light-transmissive member forming at least part of the drain pan and is for transmitting ultraviolet light emitted from a light source. The light-transmissive member has a light-emitting surface that is exposed to the inside of the drain pan and from which ultraviolet light that has been transmitted through the light-transmissive member is emitted.
