VARIABLE AIR VOLUME SYSTEMS WITH FILTRATION AND AIR QUALITY CONTROL

A variable air volume (VAV) box includes a fan operable to induce airflow from a building space through the VAV box and discharge the airflow back to the building space, an air cleaning device positioned to clean the airflow through the VAV box before discharging the airflow back to the building space and configured to affect an air quality of the airflow, and a controller configured to operate the fan to modulate the airflow through the VAV box to achieve a target air quality for at least one of the airflow discharged from the VAV box or air within the building space.

Sleep enhancement in an HVAC system

Improvements to an HVAC thermostat include a sleep-enhancing feature which regulates the target temperature of the HVAC system according to a temperature profile which complements the natural changes in body temperature of a person during sleep. The timing of the temperature profile is advanced to cause room temperature to decrease before the natural decrease in body temperature is expected to occur, thereby helping lead a person into sleep without the use of pharmaceuticals or other artificial sleeping aids. The temperature profile causes room temperature to increase towards the end of the sleep period, thus avoiding disruptions of sleep when body temperature is lowest or during REM stages of sleep when the human body's ability to thermo-regulate is diminished. The rate of change of the target environment temperature is controlled to further enhance the quality and duration of sleep.

Control method for air-conditioning equipment, program, and mobile information terminal

An air-conditioning setting screen has a coordinate space defined by a Y-axis along which temperature items are indicated in increments of one degree and an X-axis along which time-point items are indicated in increments of one hour. Operation points PT corresponding to the time-point items are arranged in the coordinate space. The air-conditioning setting screen displays time-series changes in a previous day's body-movement values such that the density of a background color is higher for times at which the body-movement value is larger and the density of a background color is lower for times at which the body-movement value is smaller.

An air quality management system includes a plurality of air treatment apparatuses mutually associated, and a control unit connected the air treatment apparatuses. The control unit makes setting such that one air treatment apparatus has a running priority. The control unit includes an information collection module that collects at least one of a user parameter, an air quality parameter, and a running parameter of the air treatment apparatuses. The control unit processes information collected by the information collection module and acquires a processing result. The control unit sets a running priority of one of the air treatment apparatuses based on the processing result. The air treatment apparatus that is set so as to have the running priority adjusts its operating state based on the processing result, and simultaneously adjusts an operating state of another of the air treatment apparatuses based on the processing result.

A thermal comfort-based air conditioning method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes, in a 5G network environment, estimation of a thermal comfort of a human body based on a thermal image by using an artificial neural network (ANN) that performs deep learning, and includes air conditioning control based on thermal comfort information. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, it is possible to prevent discomfort caused by heat or cold due to excessive or insufficient air conditioning control.

System for personalized indoor microclimates

A network of wireless remote climate sensors in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system permits the creation of personalized microclimates within an enclosed space. In addition to collecting temperature and humidity data, the wireless remote climate sensors can detect whether the enclosed space is occupied by a human. Human detection is made possible by optional cameras, microphones, and gas sensors on the wireless remote climate sensors. As the human moves throughout the enclosed space, the HVAC system is able to track the human's movement using the wireless remote climate sensors. The HVAC system may adjust airflow to different portions of the enclosed space based on the human's location. The result is an efficient use of system resources to keep users at their ideal temperature.
