Apparatus and methods for heating water with refrigerant from air conditioning system

An apparatus for heating water has a tank for storing water and an air conditioning system that defines a refrigerant flow path through which refrigerant flows. The refrigerant flow path passes through the heat exchanger so that refrigerant heat is contributed to the tank. A control system controls operation of the water heating apparatus.

HYBRID WATER HEATER

A heat pump water heater has a tank, a heat source, and a heat pump system. The heat pump system has a refrigerant path, at least a portion of which is in thermal communication with the water tank volume so that heat transfers from refrigerant to the water tank volume. A fan causes air to flow through a housing, and another portion of the refrigerant path includes an evaporator in the housing. The fan is within the housing and may further be within a second housing. The first housing may comprise a baffle to direct air flow. The fan may be a variable speed fan in communication with a controller, so that the controller controls the fan speed depending on a temperature of the refrigerant.

System and Apparatus for Conditioning of Indoor Air

A control system is provided for controlling heating and/or cooling with a conditioning load such as fan coils and chilled beams. Based on user input and ambient conditions, the control system determines a desired temperature for the liquid entering the load and combines fresh supply liquid (e.g., from a chiller or boiler) with a portion of the liquid that has passed through the load, to achieve the target load input temperature for the liquid. A recirculation pump may be used to return a portion of the liquid exiting the load for mixing with the fresh supply liquid and a control valve may be used to adjust the ratio of fresh supply liquid and recirculated liquid to achieve the targeted temperature. The control systems can be compatible with a variety of liquid supply systems such as two- and four-pipe systems.

Indoor unit of air-conditioning apparatus having an infrared sensor

A controller converts a detection result of an infrared sensor into overall thermal image data representing a temperature distribution within an infrared detection range of the infrared sensor, calculates, based on the overall thermal image data, a floor area of an air-conditioned space, and obtains, based on the overall thermal image data, floor thermal image data including a plurality of element data items each including coordinates within the floor area and a floor temperature within the floor area associated with the coordinates. The controller determines the presence or absence of a floor heating device in the air-conditioned space. When the controller determines the presence of the floor heating device, the controller determines, based on data that is included in the floor thermal image data and corresponds to an installation region of the floor heating device, an operation state of the floor heating device.

HEATING UNIT WITH A PARTITION

A heating unit for a heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system may have a first airflow path through the heating unit, a second airflow path through the heating unit, and a heater assembly having a first heating coil positioned within the first airflow path, a second heating coil positioned within the second airflow path, and a coil divider separating the first heating coil and the second heating coil.

The present invention improves the user-friendliness of a hot-water supply apparatus when using hot water supply and air conditioning. A switching control unit 27, which switches between heat medium flow paths 4 and 5 according to an air conditioning ready state or a hot-water supply ready state, switches a heat medium flow path to the hot-water supply ready state by a switching valve 21 in the case where air conditioning is not used by the time an air conditioning standby time elapses during standby in the air conditioning ready state.

Heating furnace using gas pulse modulation temperature control mode

A heating control system that includes a heating unit with a constant burner and a pulsed burner. The constant burner is configured to remain active during operation. The pulsed burner is configured to toggle between an active mode and an inactive mode. The heating control system further includes a memory operable to store a temperature map that maps temperatures to percentages of a period that the pulsed burner is active and a microprocessor operably coupled to the heating unit and the memory. The microprocessor is configured to transmit a first electrical signal to activate the constant burner, obtain a temperature set point, determine the percentage of the period that the pulsed burner is active using the temperature set point and the temperature map, and transmit a second electrical signal to toggle the pulsed burner based on the determination of the percentage of the period that the pulsed burner is active.

FEEDBACK WARNING SYSTEM USING INDUCER PULSE WIDTH MODULATION SIGNAL

In an aspect, an HVAC system includes an inducer motor to provide combustion airflow, and a pressure sensor to measure an output airflow pressure of the inducer motor. The HVAC system may initiate the inducer motor, and receive a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal from the inducer motor, wherein the PWM signal indicates a PWM signal of the inducer motor corresponding to a predetermined airflow pressure of the inducer motor and measured by the pressure sensor. The HVAC system may compare the PWM signal to a baseline value, and control the inducer motor based on the comparing of the PWM signal to the baseline value. The HVAC system may also generate a status notification of the combustion airflow of the HVAC system in response to the comparing the PWM signal to the baseline value.
