System and methods of operating a water heater receiving power from an electrical grid. The water heater includes a heating element, a controller, and a first control circuit. The first control circuit including an energizing terminal and a microprocessor. The method includes connecting an energizing terminal of the first control circuit between a power output terminal of the controller and the heating element, receiving driving power from the controller based on a temperature signal. The method also includes receiving a control signal from the controller based on electrical grid information, and selectively energizing the heating element, by the microprocessor of the first control circuit and through the energizing terminal of the first control circuit based on the control signal.
Heat pump and heat exchanger heating system for a domestic hot water tank
A water heating system for a domestic hot water tank, the system including: a heat pump adapted to provide heat energy; and a heat exchanger comprising a coil of thermally conductive material arranged such that a diameter of the coil is approximately between five and six times greater than a diameter of the thermally conductive material and the heat exchanger is adapted to be installed in the domestic hot water tank and operationally coupled to the heat pump.

Provided is a method of signalling energy usage to a user of a hot water outlet of a hot water supply system, the hot water supply system including: a thermal energy store that is supplied with energy from a source of renewable energy; a renewable energy source; an auxiliary water heater coupled to a networked energy supply; a flow transducer operable, when a water flow passes through the hot water outlet, to provide flow rate data for the water flow; and a processor coupled to the flow transducer; the hot water supply system being operable, under the control of the processor, to heat water that is to be supplied to the hot water outlet to a target system supply temperature using a selection of one or more of the auxiliary water heater, the renewable energy source, and energy from the thermal energy store.
MODULATING ENERGY USAGE BASED ON A CURRENT TARIFF IN A WATER PROVISION SYSTEM
A heater arrangement system for a water provision system for controlling a water supply provided to a water outlet, the water outlet being arranged to provide heated water to a user, the heater arrangement system comprising: a water heating device disposed remotely from the water outlet; and a control unit communicatively coupled to the water heating device, the control unit being configured to: receive a request from a user to enable a reduced temperature water supply mode, which provides for heated water to be supplied to the water outlet at a first temperature for a fixed period of time and then provides for the temperature to be lowered to a second temperature once the fixed time has elapsed; and for a user for which the request has been received, upon detecting that the user has opened the water outlet, providing heated water at the first temperature for a first period of time, then reducing the temperature of the heated water from the first temperature to a second temperature lower than the first temperature after the first period of time has elapsed.

The present disclosure relates to modulating energy consumption by a water provision system installed in a building, including one or more electrical heating elements operable to heat water, a heat pump configured to transfer thermal energy from outside the building to a thermal energy storage medium inside the building and a control module configured to control operation of the water provision system, the water provision system being configured to provide water heated by the one or more electrical heating elements and/or the thermal energy storage medium to one or more water outlets, This can include: determining a level of energy demands of a geographical region comprising the building; and upon determining that the level of energy demands is high, controlling the water provision system to switch from using the one or more electrical heating elements to the thermal energy storage medium for provision of heated water.

A computer-implemented method predictively prepares a water provision system installed in a building. The water provision system includes a heat pump configured to transfer thermal energy from the surrounding to a thermal energy storage medium and a control module configured to control operation of the heat pump. The water provision system is configured to provide water heated by the thermal energy storage medium to an occupant of the building at one or more water outlets. The method is performed by the control module and includes: receiving a current location of the occupant, estimating an expected arrival time for the occupant to arrive at the building based on the current location, and determining an expected occupancy of the building based on the expected arrival time.

controlling the radiator as a function of the predetermined indication.
