METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A TEMPERATURE OF A LIQUID IN A LIQUID CONTAINER
20240077896 · 2024-03-07 ·

A method for controlling a temperature of a liquid in a liquid container filled with at least a first predetermined amount of the liquid using a heating device. The temperature of the liquid in the liquid container is measured and controlled by adjusting the heat output of the heating device. If the liquid container is filled with less than the first predetermined amount of liquid until the liquid container is filled with a second predetermined amount of the liquid, wherein the second predetermined amount of the liquid is equal to or greater than the first predetermined amount of the liquid, cool liquid is fed into the liquid container from a liquid reservoir, the heating device is permanently activated, and the temperature of the liquid in the partially filled liquid container is controlled.

A method for electronic, remote control of an existing heating element. A temperature probe is monitored programmatically. That data is managed via wifi connectivity. A user can then control the operation of the device (water heater or other) at any time and from any location.

CAPACITIVE LEAK AND FLAMMABLE VAPOR DETECTION SYSTEM
20190339152 · 2019-11-07 ·

A single capacitive sensor that may detect both water leaks and flammable vapors. The sensor may have two electrodes not touching each other but supported with an insulative material between the electrodes that allows fluids to enter between the electrodes. An electronic circuit connected to the capacitive sensor may determine the capacitance of the two electrodes. Fluids may enter between the electrodes and affect their capacitance. Permittivities of the fluids may be calculated from their effects on capacitance. Ranges of the permittivities may indicate the kind of substances and their intensity of presence. Water and flammable vapors are examples of such substances. The electronic circuit may be connected to a control module of a water heater, in that if the intensity or concentration of detected water or flammable vapors reaches a pre-set threshold, then the circuit may trigger an alarm and/or shut down the water heater.

Machine learning based smart water heater controller using wireless sensor networks

Smart hot water heater control can be improved by departing from the conventional approach of monitoring hot water demand at a single point (i.e., the water heater output). Instead, hot water demand is monitored at each location in the building where hot water is used. With this approach, the controller can provide hot water at a temperature suitable for the intended use, e.g., warm water for a bath or shower, and much hotter water for a dishwasher. This advantageously avoids inefficiency due to mixing hot and cold water at a tap to provide temperature control.

A temperature control system for controlling a water heater to adjust the temperature of water in a water storage tank, the control system including a first temperature sensor coupled to the storage tank and configured to measure a first temperature of the water at a first location within the storage tank, a second temperature sensor coupled to the storage tank and configured to measure a second temperature of the water at a second location within the storage tank, and a controller coupled to the first and second temperature sensors and configured to turn ON the water heater when the measured first and second temperatures are below a first setpoint temperature, and to turn OFF the water heater when the measured first and second temperatures are at or above a second setpoint temperature.

Companion water heater

A hot water heater appliance includes a boiler, a companion water heater and a controller. The controller is configured to control the water heater appliance in response to a scheduled plurality of performance modes based on a preset schedule. A first performance mode is scheduled to be performed at an expected low usage time and a second performance mode is scheduled to be performed at an expected high usage time relative to the expected low usage time.
