Model train car coupler
10661188 · 2020-05-26 ·

The model train car coupler comprises a coupler body and a pivoting knuckle. The model train car coupler body resembles a Janney coupler reduced to the scale of a model train. The model train car coupler is used on one or both the ends of a model train locomotive, caboose, or train car to couple one car to an adjacent car. The model train car coupler is used by backing a train car having the coupler into another car also having the coupler. As the cars are pushed together, the pivoting knuckles of each coupler defect to opposite sides, pass each other, and then spring back to their original positions at which point the couplers are engaged and forward motion of the train will cause one car to pull the other forward.

MODEL ENERGIZATION COUPLER, RAILWAY MODEL VEHICLE, AND MODEL ENERGIZATION UNIT
20200070059 · 2020-03-05 ·

In a model coupler that detachably couples vehicles, energization between the vehicles in train organization is stabled regardless of curvature of a rail. A support member is swingable in line with the coupling part by extending from an attachment base side attached to a model vehicle toward a front end side facing the coupling partner and providing a front end under the coupling part. One energization part is attached to the support member and includes a first contact point formed on the attachment base side and a second contact point formed on the front end side. The first contact point is in contact with a first power collection member of the model vehicle, and the second contact point is in contact with a fourth contact point of the other energization part of the coupling partner.

SMALL SCALE MODEL RAILWAY VEHICLE COUPLING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
20250249371 · 2025-08-07 ·

A coupling device for a small scale railway vehicle includes two shanks, a coil spring, and a spring prop. Each shank has coupling and lever ends, and is mounted on a pivot post for selectively pivoting, in opposite directions, between open and closed configurations. When open, the coupling ends are splayed apart for selective coupling to a second coupler. Any load borne by the coupling ends, from the second coupler, is transferred via the pivot post to the railway vehicle. The coil spring extends between the lever ends. It is biased towards the closed configuration. The spring prop partially bisects the coil spring and, via the coil spring, urges the shanks towards the closed configuration and the coupling ends, in opposing transverse directions, towards a centered position for secure coupling engagement with the second coupler.
