Cooling system with thermal battery
A cooling system includes an evaporator unit, a condensing unit, and a thermal battery fluidly coupled to the evaporator unit and the condensing unit. The cooling system also includes a control system configured to selectively direct a fluid refrigerant between any two of the condensing unit, the evaporator unit, and the thermal battery.
Refrigeration system with superheating, sub-cooling and refrigerant charge level control
The refrigeration system includes a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator, one or both of a receiver drier unit and an accumulator unit fluidly connected by refrigerant lines to form a refrigerant circuit. The receiver drier unit includes a receiver drier and a first sensor, and the accumulator unit includes an accumulator and a second sensor. A controller is electrically connected to the first and second sensors and in some cases electrically connected to an electrical valve. The electrical valve is fluidly connected to a refrigerant reservoir. The controller determines the refrigerant charge level, and selectively controls the electrical valve to allow the refrigerant to flow from the refrigerant reservoir to the refrigerant circuit when the refrigerant charge level is below the predetermined refrigerant charge level.
Absorption cooling system with solar collector
A solar powered absorption cooling system employing refrigerant-absorbent solutions such as water and lithium bromide and hybrid storage capabilities, and a method of employing the system in refrigeration and air conditioning units. The system includes a first temperature control valve and second temperature control valve that together regulate the flow of solar heating fluid into the generator and substantially reduce absorbent crystal formation.

System and method for preventing absorbent crystallization in a continuously operating solar-powered absorption cooling system with hybrid storage
REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
Provided is a refrigeration system including a thermal store and a circuit around which a refrigerant circulates. The circuit includes a compressor and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger exchanges heat between the refrigerant and the thermal store, and the thermal store surrounds at least part of the compressor to absorb noise generated by the compressor.
COMBINED HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS
We describe a combined heating and cooling system, the system comprising: a working fluid circuit comprising a compressor, a gas cooler and an evaporator; a heating circuit, thermally coupled to said working fluid circuit via said gas cooler; and a cooling circuit, thermally coupled to said working fluid circuit via said evaporator; wherein said heating circuit further comprises a thermal storage tank, in particular a stratified thermal storage tank, controllably coupled to said heating circuit to controllably store heat for said heating circuit.
Thermal regulation system
A sorption heat pump having an evaporator containing a working fluid to evaporate the fluid to produce a gas, a sorber containing a sorption material to sorb the gas during a sorption phase, a vapor pathway connecting the evaporator and sorber, and a thermal control unit controlling the rate of vapor flow between the evaporator and sorber through the pathway, and being selectively operable to permit, stop and restart the flow of gas through the pathway. The pump may be used with a compartment storing temperature sensitive material. The evaporator may be positioned inside and the sorber outside the compartment, or the sorber may be positioned inside and the evaporator outside the compartment. The pump may be used in an apparatus including both cool and warm compartments, with an insulation layer in each. A method is disclosed for reusing the pump after the sorption material has been sorbed.
HVAC SYSTEM WITH THERMAL STORAGE
A vapor compression system includes a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator fluidly connected to form a closed fluid loop having a fluid circulating therethrough. A thermal storage device including a phase change material is fluidly connected to and is arranged downstream from an outlet of the compressor relative to a flow of the fluid. A storage expansion device is arranged downstream from the thermal storage device and upstream from the evaporator and a valve is adjustable between a plurality of positions to control the flow of the fluid from the compressor to the thermal storage device.
