Low Charge Detection System For Cooling Systems
Systems and methods that detect a loss of charge associated with a climate controlled environment are described in the present disclosure. In various embodiments, a controller receives operating condition parameters associated with a climate-controlled environment. The controller determines whether a compressor is operating in a first mode of operation or a second mode of operation. The controller applies a first model to the operating condition parameters when the compressor is operating in the first mode of operation to represent a loss of charge associated with the climate-controlled environment and applies a second model to the operating condition parameters when the compressor is operating in the second mode of operation to represent the loss of charge associated with the climate-controlled environment.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PREVENTING PREMATURE COMPRESSOR FAILURE FROM IMPROPER OPERATION
Methods and systems for detecting and correcting improper operation of a compressor in a refrigeration system and/or an HVAC system include a component level detection and prevention and a system level detection and prevention. The system level detection and prevention can be a backup or a confirmation of the component level detection and prevention. The component level detection and prevention can detect and prevent improper compressor operation within a predetermined time so that the compressor's operation period in an improper direction can be minimized, thereby minimizing wear and damage to the compressor.
Systems and methods for exchanging thermal energy between a drain liquid and a source liquid for heating or cooling
Systems and methods are disclosed for exchanging thermal energy between a drain liquid and a source liquid for heating or cooling of the source liquid. One method for heating a source liquid may involve transferring heat from a drain liquid using a heat pump. A system may include a refrigerant, a source liquid and a drain liquid, two or more heat exchangers that facilitate an exchange of thermal energy, and a means for transporting the refrigerant.
Method and apparatus for measuring and improving efficiency in refrigeration systems
An apparatus for optimizing an efficiency of a refrigeration system, comprising means for measuring a refrigeration efficiency of an operating refrigeration system; means for altering a process variable of the refrigeration system during efficiency measurement; and a processor for calculating a process variable level which achieves an optimum efficiency. The process variables may include refrigerant charge and refrigerant oil concentration in evaporator.
Refrigeration cycle device using working fluid containing 1,1,2-trifluoroethylene (R1123) and difluoromethane (R32)
A refrigeration cycle device includes a refrigeration cycle formed by connecting a compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve and an evaporator to each other. As a refrigerant in the refrigeration cycle, a working fluid containing 1,1,2-trifluoroethylene (R1123) and difluoromethane (R32) is used. A degree of opening of the expansion valve is controlled such that the refrigerant has two phases at a suction portion of the compressor.
Scroll unloading detection system
Systems and methods for compressor unloading detection are provided and include a compressor having a compression mechanism. A controller determines a predicted discharge temperature of the compressor, receives an actual discharge temperature of the compressor, and compares the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature. The controller also compares a speed of the compressor with a speed threshold and detects unloading of the compression mechanism based on the comparison of the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature and based on the comparison of the speed of the compressor with the speed threshold. The controller performs at least one of generating an alert and a remediating action in response to detecting the unloading of the compression mechanism.
Thermal Monitoring for Cooling Systems
A system or method can be used to monitor operations of a heat exchanger, such as a condenser of an air conditioning system, that includes a header plate. A temperature sensor can be secured to the header plate to measure a temperature of the header plate as a proxy for a temperature or a pressure of a working fluid of the heat exchanger.
Vehicle air conditioning device
There is disclosed a vehicle air conditioning device of a heat pump system which delays proceeding of frosting onto an outdoor heat exchanger, thereby eliminating or inhibiting deterioration of a heating capability due to the frosting. The vehicle air conditioning device executes a heating mode in which a controller lets a refrigerant discharged from a compressor 2 radiate heat in a radiator 4, decompresses the refrigerant by which heat has been radiated, and then lets the refrigerant absorb heat in an outdoor heat exchanger 7, and on the basis of a difference TXO=(TXObaseTXO) between a refrigerant evaporation temperature TXObase of the outdoor heat exchanger 7 in non-frosting and a refrigerant evaporation temperature TXO of the outdoor heat exchanger 7, the controller corrects a target subcool degree TGSC that is a target value of a subcool degree of the refrigerant in the radiator 4 in an increasing direction in accordance with increase of the difference TXO.
METHOD OF SEARCHING FOR REFRIGERANT LEAK LOCATION
A method of searching for a refrigerant leak location is provided which can easily specify the refrigerant leak location. In the method of searching for the refrigerant leak location in a refrigeration apparatus (100) in which a refrigerant is charged and which includes a refrigeration circuit (10) performing a refrigeration cycle, the refrigeration circuit (10) is prepared in a state that the refrigerant containing an odor component is charged therein, and the refrigerant leak location is specified by letting a dog capable of detecting the odor component to run along the refrigeration circuit (10).
