Ice maker and refrigerator having the same

A refrigerator having an ice maker with an improved structure. The refrigerator includes an ice maker installable in the door, and including a frame, an ice-making tray which is detachably mounted on the frame, configured to contain ice, and a water bucket which is rotatable while mounted on the frame, configured to supply water to the ice-making tray. The water bucket may include a rotating shaft as a rotation center about which the water bucket is rotatable, and a moving guide spaced apart from the rotating shaft and movable around the rotating shaft. The frame may include a rotating shaft coupling portion to which the rotating shaft is rotatably coupled, and a guide rail on which at least a portion of the moving guide is supported, configured to guide a rotational movement of the water bucket.

Refrigerator

A water pocket with an open top side is filled with water, mounted in a regular position on a supporting frame, and tilts to supply the water stored in the water pocket to an ice making tray, thereby easily supplying a required amount of water to the ice making tray. A refrigerator includes an ice making tray provided to linearly move with rotation when ice of the ice making tray is separated, or includes a holding preventing member which prevents the ice from being caught by a lower ice making tray, thereby improving a forward-and-backward width of an ice maker. It is possible to easily withdraw ice stored in an ice bucket by pushing an ice discharge button in a state in which the ice bucket is not separated.

Ice maker assembly for a cooling device

A cooling device including a liner defining a freezer compartment, a shelf positioned within the freezer compartment, and an ice maker assembly secured to the shelf. The ice maker assembly including an ice maker configured to produce ice pieces, and an ice maker support frame that supports the ice maker. The ice maker support frame includes a fill cup and an air plenum, the air plenum defining a channel therein and extends between first and second walls of the ice maker support frame. A fan is disposed adjacent the ice maker frame at a location corresponding to the air plenum. The fill cup is configured to receive water from a water fill tube and direct the water to an ice tray of the ice maker.

A method for controlling a refrigerator according to the present embodiment is a method for controlling a refrigerator comprising a first tray forming a part of an ice chamber, a second tray forming another part of the ice chamber, a driving unit for moving the second tray, an ice bin for storing ice produced in the ice chamber, and an ice-fullness detection means for detecting whether or not the ice bin is full of ice, the method comprising the steps of: supplying water to the ice chamber in a state in which the second tray has moved to a water-supply position; making ice after the second tray has moved from the water-supply position to an ice-making position in the inverse direction after the water supply has been completed; determining whether or not the ice bin is full of ice after the ice making is completed; moving the second tray to an ice-separating position and then rotating same in the inverse direction if it is not determined in the step of determining whether or not the ice bin is full of ice that the ice bin is full of ice; and determining again whether or not the ice bin is full of ice after ice separation is completed.

A device for removing foreign matter in an ice maker is configured to prevent foreign matter from accumulating on the bottom of a float by changing the structure of the bottom of the float. The device includes a level sensor sensing a water level using a float moving up and down, depending on a height of water supplied in a water tank and a connection pipe forming a channel for water flow between the water pump and the level sensor by being connected to the level sensor, and having an inclined surface inclined downward toward an entrance of the channel under the float.
