An ice making assembly includes: an ice maker configured to make ice, an ice bin that has a portion disposed below the ice maker and that is configured to receive the ice from the ice maker, a detection lever that is disposed below the ice maker and that is configured to rotate to thereby detect a volume of the ice in the ice bin, and a driver configured to rotate the ice maker along a moving path between (i) an ice making position at which ice making is performed and (ii) an ice separating position at which ice separation is performed. The detection lever is configured to detect the volume of the ice in the ice bin being full before and after the ice is separated from the ice maker.

The ice maker additionally includes a controller to control the driver, so that the at least one ice separating rod separates the ice.

An ice maker of a refrigerator includes a water supply to supply an ice-making water. The ice maker also includes an ice making container to be filled with the ice-making water. The ice maker further includes a cooler to provide a chill to the ice-making water. The ice maker additionally includes a water supplying-ice separator including at least one ice separating rod and a water supplying shaft. The water supplying shaft includes a water passage therein and a plurality of outlets wherein the ice-making water is discharged through the plurality of outlets to the ice making container. The at least one ice separating rod is provided on the water supplying shaft. The ice maker also includes a driver configured to rotate the water supplying-ice separator. The ice maker additionally includes a controller to control the driver, so that the at least one ice separating rod separates the ice.

Provided is a refrigerator including a cabinet having a refrigerating compartment and a freezing compartment defined therein, and an ice maker disposed in the freezing compartment, wherein the ice maker includes an upper tray made of an elastic material, and having a plurality of hemispherical upper chambers defined therein, a lower tray made of an elastic material, wherein the lower tray comes into contact with the upper tray by pivoting to define a plurality of spherical ice chambers therebetween, a driver for pivoting the lower tray to open and close the upper tray and the lower tray, and each rib formed along a circumference of each upper chamber or each lower chamber in contact with each other.
