Ice making assembly and an ice bucket

An ice making assembly and an ice bucket are provided. The ice bucket includes a sidewall that defines a storage volume and an auger disposed within the storage volume. A motor is configured for rotating the auger within the storage volume. The motor is positioned above the storage volume along a vertical direction. The position of the motor relative to the storage volume can assist with limiting or preventing damage to the motor.

HAIL PRODUCING MACHINE

A hail producing machine includes at least one diffuser for mixing water and carbon dioxide. At least one heat exchanger is in flow communication with the diffuser for receiving the mixture. A refrigeration unit freezes the mixture to form an ice rod in the heat exchanger. The ice rod is ejected from the heat exchanger and is converted into hail stones by a molding station downstream from the heat exchanger.

An auger-type ice maker includes an ice generator including an ice making tube, an auger installed coaxially within the ice making tube, and a refrigerant pipe wound spirally around and fixed to an outer surface of the ice making tube to be in close contact therewith, an ice compressor connected to an upper portion of the ice generator, the ice compressor configured to compress ice generated by the ice generator, and a fluid reservoir connected to a lower portion of the ice generator, the fluid reservoir configured to retain a fluid to be supplied to the ice generator. A portion of the fluid reservoir is disposed in a position the same as or higher than that of the ice compressor.

DRAINING THE SUMP OF AN ICE MAKER TO PREVENT GROWTH OF HARMFUL BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
20250172327 · 2025-05-29 · ·

An ice maker having a refrigeration system, a water system and a control system. The refrigeration system includes an ice formation device. The water system supplies water to the ice formation device, and includes a water reservoir (e.g., a sump or float chamber) for holding water to be formed into ice and a discharge valve in fluid communication with the water reservoir. The control system includes an ice level sensor adapted to sense the ice level in an ice storage bin, and a controller adapted to cause water to drain from the water reservoir when the ice storage bin is full. Substantially or all of the water remaining in the water reservoir is drained such that while the ice maker is not making ice the water reservoir is empty of water. This reduces or prevents the growth of harmful bacteria, parasites, organisms, and/or other biological material in the water reservoir.

ICE-MAKING SYSTEM, WHICH CONTROLS ICE HARDNESS

An ice-making system that can produce ice pellets and can control the hardness of the ice pellets. For example, the ice-making system can include a housing defining an ice-making chamber. The housing can receive liquid. The ice-making system can further include a heat exchange system that can freeze the liquid in the housing to produce ice. The ice-making system can also include an extrusion head coupled with the housing. The extrusion head can include a plurality of openings that can receive the ice. Additionally, the ice-making system can include an auger positioned in a center of the housing. The auger can move the ice toward the extrusion head. The ice-making system can further include a heating element positioned proximate and external the extrusion head. A temperature of the heating element can be based on a preselected ice hardness level.
