A refrigerator appliance includes a cabinet with at least one food storage chamber defined in the cabinet. The refrigerator appliance also includes a sealed cooling system in fluid communication with the at least one food storage chamber via a multi-flow system. A plurality of independently cooled zones are defined within the at least one food storage chamber. The refrigerator appliance also includes a temperature control module selectively positionable in one of the plurality of zones. Methods of operating the refrigerator appliance may include and/or a controller of the refrigerator appliance may be configured for locating the temperature control module, receiving a temperature setting from the temperature control module, and adjusting operation of at least one of the sealed cooling system and the multi-flow system in response to the received temperature setting from the temperature control module.

An ice maker for a refrigerating appliance includes an ice tray having ice-forming compartments. Each ice-forming compartment includes sidewalls and a base defining an internal freezing chamber. The ice maker also includes an air flow diverter having an outer frame and a plurality of internal diverting fins that define tuned duct flutes for receiving a stream of intake air from an air handling system and distributing the stream of intake air through the plurality of tuned duct flutes as streams of cooling air directed toward the ice-forming compartments. The internal diverting fins include a predetermined spacing pattern that individually tunes each of the tuned duct flutes. The predetermined spacing pattern evenly distributes the stream of intake air among the plurality of tuned duct flutes such that each of the plurality of streams of cooling air include substantially equal air flow rates.

An ice making device for a refrigerator including a cold air generation system and a circulation unit. An ice maker is disposed within an ice-making room and configured to produce ice. The cold air generation system can supply cold air to the ice-making room in the ice making device. A circulation unit is disposed within the ice-making room to drive cold air into the ice-making room. The circulation unit may include a fan motor and an air guide.

A domestic refrigeration appliance apparatus has a storage unit which defines at least one storage chamber for storing food that is open in the direction of an upper face of the storage unit, a closing unit which in at least one first storage state closes the storage unit at least substantially in the direction of the upper face, and a ventilation unit which in at least one second storage state moves the closing unit relative to the storage unit to ventilate the storage chamber. In order to provide a generic apparatus with improves properties in respect of efficient ventilation of a storage chamber, it is proposed that the ventilation unit pivots the closing unit about at least one pivot axis relative to the storage unit to ventilate the storage chamber.

A refrigerator having an ice-making device evaporator in addition to a refrigerator storage room evaporator. The ice-making device includes an ice tray and a cooling pipe contacting an outer surface of the ice tray. A refrigerant flows in the cooling pipe and directly cools the ice tray. The ice-making device evaporator receives the refrigerant from a condenser and supplies it to the cooling pipe. A heat insulation member wraps around the cooling pipe and can prevent the cooling pipe from exchanging heat with ambient air.

A refrigeration appliance includes a freezer compartment for storing food items. An ice maker is disposed within the freezer compartment and includes a removable ice bin having an internal cavity. A front cover closes a front open end of the ice bin. The front cover includes a front face oriented toward a front of the freezer compartment, a rear face, and a recess formed in the rear face. The rear face of the front cover is disposed adjacent to a horizontal edge portion of the ice maker when the removable ice bin is disposed within the ice maker wherein the recess defines a gap between the front cover and the horizontal edge portion that fluidly communicates with the internal cavity of the removable ice bin. A plurality of ribs is disposed within the gap for directing air exiting the internal cavity of the removable ice bin into a predetermined direction.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose an ice-making device including an ice tray configured to make ice pieces from water, an ice-making duct, a scroll fan unit, and a cold air guide. The ice-making duct is configured to receive a cold air and supply the cold air toward a lower portion of the ice tray. The scroll fan unit is installed under the ice tray and configured to transfer the cold air supplied from the ice-making duct. The cold air guide is provided under the ice tray and configured to guide the cold air so that the cold air transferred by the scroll fan unit is uniformly supplied to a lower portion of the ice tray.

A refrigerator appliance is provided and may include a cabinet, a door, a sealed cooling system, an ice crusher motor, and a frozen beverage unit. The cabinet may define a chilled chamber. The door may be attached to the cabinet to selectively restrict access to the chilled chamber. The door may include a door liner defining an icebox compartment. The sealed cooling system may be in fluid communication with the icebox compartment to circulate air within the refrigerator appliance. The ice crusher motor may be mounted within the icebox compartment. The frozen beverage unit may include a freezing tank and a rotatable auger. The rotatable auger may extend into the freezing tank and in operable attachment with the ice crusher motor.

An ice maker includes a harvest motor and an ice tray operably coupled to the harvest motor. The ice tray has a plurality of heat sinks coupled to a bottom section of ice forming cavities on the ice tray. The harvest motor is operable to twist the ice tray for causing the plurality of heat sinks to move relative to each other for releasing ice pieces from the ice forming cavities.

An ice piece making assembly and a refrigeration appliance containing the ice piece making assembly is disclosed. The ice making assembly produces ice pieces by directional freezing and includes: an ice piece forming tray having a motor engaging end, a distal end, a first side, a second side and a bottom surface, a plurality of ice piece making compartments divided by divider walls, and a plurality of heat sinks engaged to the bottom surface of the ice making compartments and deliver defrost water to a drain or defrost water catch tray positioned at at least one of the distal end and the motor engaging end; and an ice piece forming tray canopy spaced a distance above the ice piece forming tray wherein the ice piece forming tray canopy comprises a heater and a temperature sensor.
