SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CRYOGENIC PURIFICATION OF A FEED STREAM COMPRISING HYDROGEN, METHANE, NITROGEN AND ARGON
A system and method for cryogenic purification of a hydrogen, nitrogen, methane and argon containing feed stream to produce a methane free, hydrogen and nitrogen containing synthesis gas and a methane rich fuel gas, as well as to recover an argon product stream, excess hydrogen, and excess nitrogen is provided. The disclosed system and method are particularly useful as an integrated cryogenic purifier in an ammonia synthesis process in an ammonia plant. The excess nitrogen is a nitrogen stream substantially free of methane and hydrogen that can be used in other parts of the plant, recovered as a gaseous nitrogen product and/or liquefied to produce a liquid nitrogen product.
Systems and methods for separating hydrocarbons using one or more dividing wall columns
Methods and systems for separating hydrocarbons using one or more dividing wall columns are provided. The method can include introducing a hydrocarbon fluid to a first dividing wall column. A first overhead comprising methane, ethane, or a combination thereof, a first intermediate comprising ethane, a second intermediate comprising ethane, and a first bottoms comprising one or more hydrocarbons having three or more carbon atoms per molecule can be recovered from the first dividing wall column. The first overhead can be introduced to a process for producing a liquefied natural gas. The first bottoms can be introduced to a second dividing wall column. A second overhead comprising propane, a third intermediate comprising butane, and a second bottoms comprising one or more hydrocarbons having five or more carbon atoms per molecule can be recovered from the second dividing wall column. The second overhead can be introduced to the process for producing a liquefied natural gas.
System and Method for Separating Nitrogen from Methane with Ultra-Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions
A system and method for removing nitrogen from natural gas using two fractionating columns to achieve an ultra-low greenhouse gas content in a nitrogen vent/product stream, while also producing three sales gas streams at different pressures and with low nitrogen content within pipeline specifications. A portion of a low pressure column overhead stream may be compressed and cooled and recycled back to provide reflux to the low pressure column. A system feed stream is cooled upstream of feed a high pressure column, but preferably not separated into streams with varying compositions. A portion of the high pressure column bottoms stream and the low pressure column bottoms stream provides refrigerant to the high pressure column to produce a reflux stream. An amount of methane in a nitrogen vent/nitrogen product stream may be less than 0.01%.
