Rapid spray drying system
The present invention includes a spray drying disposable device for use in a spray drying system. The disposable has a spray drying head and a plasma drying chamber. The head has a spray dry nozzle assembly in fluid communication with the plasma source and the pressurized aerosol gas source. The pressurized gas flows in a vortex pattern that atomizes plasma droplets in the chamber. The head also includes a plenum has uniform air pressure of the drying gas. A baffle plate forms the floor of the plenum having drying gas jets that supply drying gas to the chamber. The atomized plasma droplets evaporate in the presence of the drying gas emitted from the jets to obtain dried plasma particles and humid air. A capture filter captures the dried plasma particles and allows the humid air to pass. The humid air passes through the gas outlet and the exhaust port.

In a removable bin for a dryer, the bin includes a floor and one or more walls extending from the floor. The one or more walls include a lower wall portion, a middle wall portion, and an upper wall portion. The lower wall portion is attached to the floor. The middle wall portion extends from the lower wall portion and includes a plurality of columns. Each of the columns includes a plurality of elongated slot openings extending through the one or more walls. The slot openings in adjacent ones of the columns are arranged in a staggered arrangement. The upper wall portion extends from the middle wall portion and includes a plurality of handholds.
Foam drying apparatus
A foam drying apparatus is provided. The apparatus is configured to pass air, and in some cases heated and/or dried air, through a quantity of foam. This air passing through the foam absorbs or otherwise carries moisture out of the foam, drying it. The apparatus may utilize a pressure differential on opposite sides of the foam, causing air on the higher pressure side to pass through the foam. Typical applications may include the drying of foam assemblies which use water based adhesives to accelerate drying of the adhesive and/or removal of water from the foam assembly, and packaging of the foam assembly.

A fully self-contained, portable product dehydrator is provided comprising: an intermodal container housing an equipment module, the equipment module including a refrigeration equipment chamber proximate the front door and an air conditioning chamber behind the refrigeration equipment chamber, the equipment module retained in the interior and moveable from a retracted position to an extended position, wherein when in the extended position, the refrigeration equipment chamber is substantially exposed to an ambient environment, outside the front door; a heat pump dehumidifier including a subcooler, a desuperheater, electronic expansion valve and a compressor, housed in the refrigeration equipment chamber and at least two condensers and evaporator housed in the air conditioning chamber, a drying chamber, the drying chamber defined by the interior and the rear door; a motor control center; and a control panel; in electronic communication with the heat pump dehumidifier and the fans.

The present invention relates to a spray dried plasma composition having one or more of the following characteristics: when reconstituted, largely amorphous and has no cholesterol crystals; when reconstituted, the number of large particulates is reduced; has low residual moisture; reconstitutes rapidly in under four minutes; highly stable when stored under refrigeration, at room temperature or at elevated temperatures and allows for storage for longer periods of time; when reconstituted, exhibits recovery of the most fragile of proteins, including von Willebrand's factor; when reconstituted with Sterile Water for Injection (SWFI), reconstituted plasma is at a pH that is near normal plasma pH, and does so without treatment or storage in CO.sub.2 or other pH adjustment; and when reconstituted, has reduced complement activation (C5A, C3A).

The dehydrator minimizes energy use by using a dual-inlet heater fan in cooperation with first and second temperature sensors to measure temperature of the recycled air flowing within the enclosure, while both the ambient and recycled air flow through separate first and second inlets into the fan. Depending upon temperature differences, a controller can change fan heat output and air flow rates through the fan. The dehydrator minimizes space by having a collapsible enclosure embodiment that utilizes folding walls secured to pivoting front and back walls to form both a collapsed configuration and also a fully assembled configuration.
