A process and plant for preheating a metal charge fed in continuous to an electric melting furnace through a preheating tunnel provided with side walls, a vault and a horizontal conveyor, wherein the metal charge is enveloped in countercurrent by fumes or exhaust gases exiting from the electric melting furnace, includes causing an air intake from the surrounding environment through openings along the preheating tunnel to complete the combustion of the fumes or exhaust gases. The intake is regulated by acting on suction fans and/or on the openings, based on measurements by temperature sensors and/or the composition of the outgoing gases in or downstream of the terminal part of the tunnel. The metal charge is enveloped by jets of gas ejected through a plurality of nozzles arranged non-uniformly longitudinally on the vault of the tunnel, with a greater concentration on the top of the vault of the tunnel.

A smelting apparatus for smelting metallic ore comprising a furnace having a continuous curved wall and end walls defining a longitudinal volume having a longitudinal axis in a horizontal direction. The continuous curved wall has a lowermost area. The longitudinal volume is divided in at least three longitudinal layers comprising a top layer within which gasified fuel is combusted for creating a hot gas composition to release, from the metallic ore, at least molten metal and slag, a lowermost layer at the lowermost area for holding molten metal, and a mid-layer above the lowermost layer in which the slag accumulates. A smelting apparatus for smelting metallic ore comprising a furnace having a continuous curved wall and end walls defining a longitudinal volume having a longitudinal axis in a horizontal direction. The continuous curved wall has a lowermost area. The longitudinal volume is divided in at least three longitudinal layers comprising a top layer within which gasified fuel is combusted for creating a hot gas composition to release, from the metallic ore, at least molten metal and slag, a lowermost layer at the lowermost area for holding molten metal, and a mid-layer above the lowermost layer in which the slag accumulates. A scrap submergence device for mixing molten metal in a furnace may include an upper structure, a shaft extending down from the upper structure, and an impeller at a lower end of the shaft. The impeller may include a plurality of blades and a plate. Each of the plurality of blades may have a blade height and a blade radius. A ratio of a blade height to a blade radius may be approximately 0.3 to approximately 1.
PORTLAND CEMENT MANUFACTURE USING MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE INCINERATION ASH
Various examples related to portland cement manufacturing using municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) ash are provided. In one example, a method includes providing a raw kiln feed including MSWI to a kiln, forming ash-amended clinker (ACK) by heating the raw kiln feed in the kiln, and preparing ash-amended cement (AAC) from the ACK. The MSWI bottom ash can make up about 5% by mass or less of the raw kiln feed. The ACK can have a chemical composition that meets ASTM C150/ASTM C595, and the AAC can include arsenic, barium, copper, and lead consistent with defined Soil Cleanup Target Levels. In another example, a system includes a kiln, a kiln feed system that supplies raw kiln feed including MSWI bottom ash to the kiln, and a finish mill that grinds ACK formed by heating the raw kiln feed in the kiln to form AAC.

The disclosure discloses an aluminum alloy material smelting device, comprising a furnace, a cutter packing device with a stirring shaft, a packing basket, a cutter-type stirring head, the stirring shaft connected with the packing basket, the bottom of the packing basket connected with a cutter-type stirring head, the cutter-type stirring head comprising a plurality of stirring blades, one end of the stirring blades connected with the bottom of the packing basket, the other end connected with each other on the central axis of the packing basket, and the side wall of the packing basket provided with a liquid passage hole to form liquid exchange with the solution outside the packing basket; the rotation of the cutter-type stirring head forming a solution vortex to accelerate the diffusion of added elements, and the vortex only formed under the stirring head, which will not damage the covering film formed on the surface of aluminum alloy, effectively prevent the scum on the surface from being involved in the solution again, thereby ensuring the consistency of the properties and chemical composition of the prepared aluminum alloy material, and reducing the influence of aluminum alloy scum on the solution.

A sealed feeder device utilized in an electric arc furnace (1), and a flue gas and temperature control method. The sealed feeder device comprises a sealed feeding chute (5) having an outlet sealedly communicating with a side wall of the electric arc furnace (1), and a material blocking sealed arc-shaped door (3) disposed in the sealed feeding chute (5). The material blocking sealed arc-shaped door (3) separates the sealed feeding chute (5) into a cold steel scrap storage chamber (18) and a material feeding and dedusting chamber (2), and is operated by a driving mechanism (34) to separate or connect the cold steel scrap storage chamber (18) and the material feeding and dedusting chamber (2). The method comprises: adopting the feeder device to divide the flue gas of the electric arc furnace (1) into two paths, and controlling, by a flue gas adjustment device (16), a ratio of a flue gas flow from a flow-splitting dust removal pipe (11) to that from a dust removal pipe (4) to obtain a required flue gas mixture temperature.
