Method and system for determining the mass of feedstock on a conveyor

A method and a system for determining a mass of feedstock discharged by a conveyor during a first time interval t are disclosed. The method includes taking successive digital images of the feedstock in a specific zone of the conveyor being separated by a second time interval t of smaller duration than the first time interval t, for each of the second time intervals t: computing the advancing distance of a sub-volume of feedstock during the second time interval t in the specific zone of the conveyor by numerical treatment of the two successive images associated with the second time interval t; determining at least one transversal height profile of the sub-volume of feedstock; and determining an effective feedstock density for the sub-volume of feedstock. The method further includes computing the mass of feedstock discharged by the conveyor during the first time interval t into the metallurgical furnace on the basis of the advancing distance, the at least one transversal height profile and the effective feedstock density, computed or determined for each of the second time intervals t.

Conveying a material to be conveyed

A conveyor system (1) for the continuous or discontinuous conveyance of a reactive and/or hot and/or abrasive material to be conveyed along a conveyor path includes a system housing (3) enclosing the conveyor path, which has at least one fluid inlet (5) for the introduction of fluid into the system housing (3), at least one fluid outlet (7, 9) for the discharge of fluid out of the system housing (3), a charging inlet (4) for introducing material to be conveyed into the system housing (3), and, apart from the at least one fluid inlet (5), the at least one fluid outlet (7, 9) and the charging inlet (4), are implemented in a technically fluid-tight manner.

Furnace assembly for a metal-making process

A furnace assembly for a metal-making process, including: an electric arc furnace configured for flat bath operation and having a bottom, and an electromagnetic stirrer configured to be arranged underneath the bottom of the electric arc furnace to enable stirring of molten metal in the electric arc furnace.

PORTLAND CEMENT MANUFACTURE USING MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE INCINERATION ASH

Various examples related to portland cement manufacturing using municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) ash are provided. In one example, a method includes providing a raw kiln feed including MSWI to a kiln, forming ash-amended clinker (ACK) by heating the raw kiln feed in the kiln, and preparing ash-amended cement (AAC) from the ACK. The MSWI bottom ash can make up about 5% by mass or less of the raw kiln feed. The ACK can have a chemical composition that meets ASTM C150/ASTM C595, and the AAC can include arsenic, barium, copper, and lead consistent with defined Soil Cleanup Target Levels. In another example, a system includes a kiln, a kiln feed system that supplies raw kiln feed including MSWI bottom ash to the kiln, and a finish mill that grinds ACK formed by heating the raw kiln feed in the kiln to form AAC.

Furnace system

A furnace system includes a mixing chamber that receives separate streams of raw material and cullet mix and discharges a combined stream. The mixing chamber tapers from an inlet end to an outlet end. One inlet in the inlet end is configured to receive one of the material and mix and is aligned with an outlet in the outlet end along a vertical axis. Another inlet is configured to receive the other of the material and mix and is offset from the outlet relative to the vertical axis such the material or mix is deposited on a sidewall of the tapered chamber before reaching the outlet. A charger receives the combined stream from the mixing chamber and discharges the mixture into a molten bath in a furnace. A duct system may be used to mix exhaust from the furnace with exhaust from the mixing chamber and charger.
