Regenerative cooling method and apparatus
A method of cooling a liner in a plasma chamber. A recycle gas is contacted with or passed through the liner to cool the liner and pre-heat the recycle gas. The pre-heated gas is then recycled through the plasma chamber to become part of the plasma forming process. The method further comprises the liner is graphite, the recycle gas passes through at least one cooling channel present in the liner, at least one of the cooling channels are covered with at least one removable liner/channel cover, carbon deposits are formed from the presence of hydrocarbons in the recycle gas, at least one channel is formed in a spiral cooling channel pattern, at least one channel is formed in a substantially straight cooling channel pattern, and a plenum to aid in the production of an even distribution of cooling gas in the channels.
DYNAMIC COOLING OF A METALLURGICAL FURNACE
One embodiment is a cooling system for regulating temperature of a surface of a metallurgical furnace. The cooling system includes a plurality of spray conduits. Each spray conduit has one or more control valves and has a plurality of nozzles. A plurality of temperature sensors are disposed proximate the surface of the metallurgical furnace. A control system adjusts the control valves of the plurality of spray conduits in response to temperature information derived from the plurality of temperature sensors.

Cooling system for a surface of a metallurgical furnace
A cooling system to cool a surface of a tilting metallurgical furnace including an inner plate of the surface, a plurality of nozzles, and a drain manifold is disclosed. The inner plate has an external surface and an internal surface. The plurality of nozzles is configured to be fluidly connected to a coolant supply pipe. At least a first nozzle of the plurality of spray conduits is configured to spray coolant against the external surface of the inner plate. The drain manifold positioned to receive coolant from the external surface of the inner plate. At least a second nozzle of the plurality of nozzles is configured to spray coolant directly into the drain manifold.
Extended leg return elbow for use with a steel making furnace and method thereof
A 180-degree pipe elbow having one end extending beyond the other end and method of joining a 180-degree pipe elbow to lengths of cooling pipe to form a cooling panel for use in a furnace, boiler or other industrial heating apparatus that benefits from assistance of a cooling panel. Having one end of the elbow extend beyond the other end of the elbow enables the one end to be joined to a length of pipe by welding whereby the joining may be by automatic welding which will reduce manufacturing costs and ensure a quality weld.
Method and device for detecting a leakage in the area of at least one cooling device of a furnace and a furnace
A method for detecting a leakage in the area of at least one cooling device of a furnace, wherein, in the event of a leakage, liquid coolant gets into a furnace chamber of the furnace from the at least one cooling device, and wherein a stream of exhaust gas is continuously removed from the furnace chamber over a period of time Z. The steps include dividing off a representative partial stream from the stream of exhaust gas during the period of time Z; condensing vaporous constituents contained in the partial stream; determining a stream of condensate obtained; comparing the stream of condensate obtained with a condensate-stream limit value; and indicating a leakage if the stream of condensate exceeds the condensate-stream limit value. Also a device for carrying out the method and a furnace with such a device are disclosed.
COPPER COOLING PLATE WITH MULTILAYER PROTRUSIONS COMPRISING WEAR RESISTANT MATERIAL, FOR A BLAST FURNACE
A cooling plate for use in a blast furnace is described. The cooling plate has a copper body having an inner face containing ribs parallel therebetween, having first extremities and separated by grooves having second extremities. At least one of these grooves containing at least a part of a multilayer protrusion extending between its second extremities and having at least one layer made of a wear resistant material that increases locally the wear resistance of the neighboring ribs.

COOLING PLATE FOR METALLURGICAL FURNACE
A cooling plate for a metallurgical furnace including a body with a front face and an opposite rear face, the body having at least one cooling channel therein having an opening in the rear face and a coolant feed pipe connected to the rear face of the cooling panel and is in fluid communication with the cooling channel where in use, the front face is turned towards a furnace interior, and at least one emergency cooling tube is arranged within the cooling channel, the emergency cooling tube having a cross-section smaller than a cross-section of the cooling channel, the emergency cooling tube has an end section with connection means for connecting an emergency feed pipe thereto, and in an emergency operation, the emergency cooling tube is physically connected to an emergency feed pipe via the connection means; while, in a normal operation, the connection means of the emergency cooling tube is physically disconnected from the emergency feed pipe. The invention also concerns the use of such a cooling plate.
