System and Method of Melting and Controlling the Flow of Molten Metal by Electromagnetic Force Utilizing Multiple Induction Coils
An induction coil assembly associated with controlling the flow of molten material used in casting or deposition of precious and/or non-precious metals on a substrate is disclosed. The assembly comprises one or more induction coils associated with induction melting of electrically conductive material by applying a predetermined current value. The assembly further comprises a crucible comprising the electrically conductive material in which an electromagnetic field is generated therein by the predetermined current value applied to the induction coils. The electromagnetic field associated with the electrically conductive material is modulated; and is used to generate smaller units of the electrically conductive material by interrupting velocity of a flow of the material in order to produce grains or apply layers on the substrate. Corresponding methods are also disclosed.
PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF HIGH ALUMINA CEMENT
High alumina cement is produced in a submerged combustion melter, cooled and ground.
COLD CRUCIBLE COMPRISING METAL OXIDE BARRIER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A metal oxide barrier and a connecting method for solving the problems in which sectors of an existing cold crucible are connected by means of a mica plate and the mica plate is damaged due to arcing and the like and in which the sectors are strongly connected by means of the mica plate and thus are difficult to replace and maintain. A cold crucible, comprising a metal oxide barrier, according to the present invention can prevent arcing, enables reduction of damage on the edge part of a water cooling sector due to a molten material and thus enhances durability. Moreover, the metal oxide barrier can easily be replaced compared to an existing mica plate and thus enables easy maintenance and repair.
CASTING METHOD FOR ACTIVE METAL
A casting method of an active metal includes, in an induction melting furnace using a water-cooled crucible, tapping a molten metal into a mold from a tapping hole provided at a bottom of the water-cooled copper crucible to cast an ingot of the active metal. In conducting the casting under a casting condition in which the ingot has a diameter (D) of 10 mm or more and a ratio (H/D) of an ingot height H to the ingot diameter D of 1.5 or more and a weight of the molten metal tapped in the casting is 200 kg or less, a temperature of the molten metal in the casting is set to be higher than the melting point of the active metal and a casting velocity V (mm/sec) is controlled to satisfy V0.1H in relation with the ingot height H by adjusting an opening diameter of the tapping hole.
Spray cooling furnace electrodes with a cooling liquid that contains surfactants
A method for cooling furnace electrodes using a cooling liquid containing surfactants. This method can be applied to electrodes used in electric arc furnaces and ladle metallurgy furnaces. The method can involve spraying the cooling liquid onto the electrode, thereby lowering the temperature of the electrode and reducing electrode consumption.
WATER COOLED BOX FOR A METAL MAKING FURNACE
A water cooled box to be installed in the side wall of a metal making furnace to hold and protect implements such as a burner, a lance, or a material (i.e., carbon or lime) injection device. The box preferably comprises a copper outer shell and a steel inner shell liner welded together, whereby a chamber is formed through which cooling water passes. The box further comprises an inlet and outlet for the water flow and a plurality of conduit passages between the copper and steel shells for mounting the aforementioned implements. The copper shell has bars or slots for slag retention and the steel shell has means for mounting the box into the furnace wall. The copper shell is formed into a curved U-shape for preventing cracking due to thermal mechanical stress and to raise the natural frequency of the panel to resist vibration which can also cause cracking.
SMELTING PROCESS AND APPARATUS
A smelting vessel includes a plurality of heat pipes (21) positioned in a refractory lining of at least a part of the hearth (9) for cooling at least a part of the refractory lining. At least one of the heat pipes includes (a) a liquid phase of a heat transfer fluid, typically water, in a lower section of the heat pipe and (b) a vapor phase of the heat transfer fluid, typically steam, in an upper section of the heat pipe. The heat pipe also includes a vent to allow vapour phase to escape from the heat pipe to reduce the pressure or the temperature within the heat pipe when the vapour pressure or the temperature in the heat pipe exceeds a predetermined threshold pressure or temperature.
GLUCONO DELTA-LACTONE FOR TREATMENT OF VAGINAL FUNGAL INFECTIONS
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical formulation for vaginal administration, wherein the formulation comprises a pharmaceutical acceptable excipient and glucono -lactone, wherein the glucono -lactone is present in an amount of 5 to 99 wt % of the formulation. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical formulation according to the invention for use in the prevention or treatment of a urogenital fungal infection. Furthermore, the invention relates to glucono -lactone (formula (III)), for use in the in the prevention or treatment of a fungal infection.
Furnace cooling system with thermally conductive joints between cooling elements
Supplementary cooling elements in addition to a primary cooling element of a furnace. The supplementary cooling elements, with two or more components, may be inserted from the outside of the furnace into holes that pass through and the primary cooling element such that the cooling elements protrude beyond the inner surface of the primary cooling element. An inner one of the components of the supplementary cooling element may be received by an outer one of the components in a manner that forces the outer component into a thermally conductive pressure connection with the primary cooling element.
COOLING SYSTEM FOR A SURFACE OF A METALLURGICAL FURNACE
A cooling system to cool a surface of a tilting metallurgical furnace including an inner plate of the surface, a plurality of nozzles, and a drain manifold is disclosed. The inner plate has an external surface and an internal surface. The plurality of nozzles is configured to be fluidly connected to a coolant supply pipe. At least a first nozzle of the plurality of spray conduits is configured to spray coolant against the external surface of the inner plate. The drain manifold positioned to receive coolant from the external surface of the inner plate. At least a second nozzle of the plurality of nozzles is configured to spray coolant directly into the drain manifold.
