SEGMENTED TUBES USED IN ANNEALING OF HIGH PURITY SILICON GRANULES

This disclosure concerns embodiments of an annealing device and a method for annealing granular silicon to reduce a hydrogen content of the granular silicon. The annealing device comprises at least one tube through which granular silicon is flowed downwardly. The tube includes a heating zone and (i) a residence zone below the heating zone, (ii) a cooling zone below the heating zone, or (iii) a residence zone below the heating zone and a cooling zone below the residence zone. An inert gas is flowed upwardly through the tube. The tube may be constructed from two or more tube segments. The annealing device may include a plurality of tubes arranged in parallel and housed within a shell. The annealing device and method are suitable for a continuous process.

ROTARY FURNACE DIRECTIONAL FLUID CONDUIT HEAT CONTROL SYSTEM
20240384933 · 2024-11-21 · ·

A directional fluid heat control system for a high temperature kiln with a process zone. The system includes two rigid, coaxially aligned tubes positioned in the kiln. One tube rotates inside the other. One tube has a series of longitudinal openings, while the other has a series of helically arranged openings. Rotating one tube selectively aligns an opening from that tube with an opening in the other. Further rotation aligns different such pairs of openings with different longitudinal orientations in the kiln. The aligned openings release pressurized fluid from the inner tube into desired locations in the kiln's process zone.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE LOSS ON IGNITION OF AT LEAST PART OF AN IRON AND STEEL PRODUCT
20180017374 · 2018-01-18 ·

Disclosed is a method and device for determining the loss on ignition of at least part of an iron and steel product during passage through a furnace upstream of a descaler. The device includes electromagnetic sensors, with at least one arranged to scan the product's lower surface near the furnace outlet, the sensor oriented so the scanning plane of the electromagnetic radiation from the sensor is perpendicular to a direction of movement; a set of at least two electromagnetic sensors upstream of the descaler, oriented so their scanning planes are substantially on a single plane perpendicular to the direction of movement of the at least part of the product; and at least two electromagnetic sensors downstream of the descaler, oriented so their scanning planes are substantially on a single plane perpendicular to the product's movement direction. The sensors determine the height of the product upstream and downstream of the descaler.

OXIDATION FURNACE
20170122664 · 2017-05-04 ·

An oxidation furnace for the oxidative treatment of fibers having a housing which is gas-tight, apart from passage areas for the fibers, and a process chamber located in the interior of the housing. A hot working atmosphere can be generated by an atmosphere-generating device, can be blown into the process chamber and flows through the process chamber in processing conditions in a main direction of flow. Deflecting rollers guide the fibers through the process chamber in a serpentine manner in such a way that the fibers lie next to one another as a fiber carpet (22a), wherein the fiber carpet spans a plane between opposite deflecting rollers. A flow measuring system is provided, by means of which a flow profile of the working atmosphere in processing conditions can be generated, and which comprises at least one sensor system for determining the speed of flow, the sensor system being arranged in a sensor region between two adjacent fiber carpets.
