Systems and Methods of Activation of 4D Effects Based on Seat Occupancy

The invention relates to a system to activate 4D effects for occupants in seats, including a thermal camera to capture a thermal image of the 4D seats, and a server to determine the occupancy of the 4D seats from the thermal image and to control the 4D seats. It also relates to a method of activate 4D effects based on seat occupancy, including receiving a baseline thermal image of seats, defining a bounding box in the baseline thermal image of the seats, storing the bounding box and the baseline thermal image, acquiring an occupancy thermal image of the seats, removing the baseline thermal image from the occupancy thermal image, locating people in the occupancy thermal image, determining occupancy of the seats, and activating the effects based on seat occupancy.

Systems and methods for fluid delivery in seat systems

The present invention relates to systems and methods of delivering fluid from one or more armrests of seat systems. In a feature, the system includes a seat support assembly with armrests with one or more fluid nozzles mounted on one or more of the armrests, a fluid delivery system coupled to the one or more fluid nozzle(s), wherein the fluid nozzles are mounted on an end of the armrest that slopes upward to direct fluid toward the viewer. In another feature, the system includes a seat support assembly with air outlet(s) on an armrest coupled to a fan, which reduces the load on the fluid delivery system. In another feature, the system includes a controller (e.g., a network server) configured to communicate on and off commands that correspond to events on a timeline of a movie to actuate the fluid delivery system to deliver fluids to the outlets.

Method and apparatus for distributing motion signals in a multi-seat environment

A system for providing motion signals indicative of a motion to be performed by the motion platforms synchronously with video images comprising an input interface for extracting a motion signal from the input signal. A server provides a network address to each motion platform. A motion platform interface has control ports connected to arrays of motion platforms. Each motion platform being connected one to another by a wired connection according to a control protocol. The motion platform interface individually actuates each of the motion platforms by providing a client motion signal to each motion platform comprising the motion signal with a respective network address. Each motion platform is managed according to a respective feedback signal comprising the provided network address of each motion platform.
