PLATE-TYPE HEAT EXCHANGER
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a plate-type heat exchanger in which the formation of burrs and chips during fin processing may be eliminated by eliminating fin processing work for stacking and bonding fins and plates. In order to achieve the above purpose, a plate-type heat exchanger according to the present invention is characterized by comprising: plates which include an inlet formed on one side in the longitudinal direction, an outlet formed on the other side in the longitudinal direction, and a flow surface formed between the inlet and the outlet; and a fin part which is inserted into a plate part formed by bonding a pair of the plates and rests on the flow surface. The plates include a fin part movement preventing means to ensure that one end of the fin part in the longitudinal direction is spaced a certain distance from the inlet and the other end of the fin part in the longitudinal direction is spaced a certain distance from the outlet such that the fin part rests only on the flow surface.
Heat station for cooling a circulating cryogen
A heat station for a GM or Stirling cycle expander provides a versatile, efficient, and cost effective means of transferring heat from a remote load at cryogenic temperatures that is cooled by a circulating cryogen to the gas in a GM or Stirling cycle expander as the gas flows between a regenerator and a displaced volume. The heat exchanger includes a shell that has external and internal fins that are thermally connected, are aligned parallel to the axis of the shell, and are enclosed in a housing having a single port on the bottom of the housing.
Heat exchanger construction using low temperature sinter techniques
Some embodiments relate to constructing a heat exchanger using nanoink as a thermal bond interface between portions of the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger may comprise fins and at least one base. A nanoink may be applied to at least a portion of the fins. The pieces of the heat exchanger may be sintered such that the nanoink melts and forms a bond between the pieces of the heat exchanger. Some embodiments include a second base. Some embodiments incorporate dissimilar materials within the heat exchanger construction.
Plate fin heat exchanger flexible manifold
A flexible manifold adapted for use on a plate-fin heat exchanger core, the flexible manifold including a plurality of individual layers configured to be metallurgically joined to respective ones of a plurality of layers of the plate-fin heat exchanger core, and further including a first end with at least one port adapted to receive or discharge a medium, a second end distal from the first end, adapted to transfer the medium to or from the plurality of individual layers, a plurality of horizontal guide vanes defining the plurality of individual layers, and a plurality vertical members positioned within each of the individual layers. The flexible manifold is configured to be mechanically and thermally compliant, and can be metallurgically joined to the heat exchanger core by brazing or welding.
Cross corrugated media and related method
A fill pack includes a first sheet and a second sheet. The first sheet has a first end, a second end and a first plurality of flutes. A first microstructure includes first top flat strips, first bottom flat strips and first conduit sides connecting the first top flat strips to the first bottom flat strips. A plurality of first radii connect the first top flat strips to the first conduit sides and the first bottom flat strips to the first conduit sides. The second sheet has a second plurality of flutes. A second microstructure includes second top flat strips, second bottom flat strips and second conduit sides connecting the second top flat strips to the second bottom flat strips. A plurality of second radii connect the second top flat strips to the second conduit sides and second bottom flat strips to the second conduit sides.
Coldplate with heat transfer module
A coldplate assembly includes a plurality of leak-tight conduit modules provided between a base and a cover to couple a first manifold cavity to a second manifold cavity. Each leak-tight conduit module includes a heat conducting structure and is pre-constructed and pre-tested prior to integration into the coldplate assembly. Each leak-tight conduit module is sealed only near the ends of the module that are disposed in the respective manifold cavity.

A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of heat exchange segments juxtaposed in a housing, and a plug member connected fluid-tightly to the housing, and supporting the heat exchange segments to provide a coolant or cooling medium passage in each gap between the heat exchange segments adjacent to each other. Each heat exchange segment comprises a case having an opening only on a surface of the case, at least outside of the opening being plugged fluid-tightly by the plug member, and a guide member, e.g., fin accommodated in the case, and provided with a plurality of passages allowing only gas flow in a predetermined direction, and gas intake passages and gas exhaust passages at the upstream and downstream thereof, wherein an opening of the case is provided with a gas inlet port communicated with the gas intake passage, and a gas outlet port communicated with the gas exhaust passages.
Heat exchangers and methods of manufacturing the same
A method of manufacturing a heat exchanger is provided. The method includes forming a first substrate by additively manufacturing a body defining a first outer surface and a second outer surface opposite the first outer surface, a first partial fluid flow channel formed within the first outer surface, a second partial fluid flow channel formed within the second outer surface, and at least one internal fluid flow channel completely formed within the body, and coupling the first substrate to a second substrate including a partial fluid flow channel formed within a surface of the second substrate such that the first partial fluid flow channel of the first substrate and the partial fluid flow channel of the second substrate combine to form a combined fluid flow channel.
HEAT EXCHANGER WITH PARTIAL-HEIGHT FOLDED FINS
A heat exchanger has a plurality of plates having opposed surfaces and side walls extending beyond the opposed surfaces to a height (h); and a fin pack extending from one opposed surface toward an opposed surface of an adjacent plate, and having a fin height (f), wherein the fin height (f) is equal to or less than the height (h). The plates can be stacked to form a heat exchanger assembly with a gap between adjacent fin packs.
Ultrasonic additive manufacturing of cold plates with pre-formed fins
A method for making a cold plate includes the steps of positioning a finstock structure in a cavity of a substrate; and applying a cover to the finstock structure and substrate, wherein the applying step comprises ultrasonically additive manufacturing the cover to the substrate and the finstock structure, whereby the cover joins with the substrate and the finstock structure. The resulting cold plate assembly includes a substrate having a cavity, a finstock structure within the cavity, and a cover closing the finstock structure within the cavity, the cover being integrally joined to the substrate and to the finstock structure.
