Heat exchanger with barrier passages

A heat exchanger core consists of first and second fluid channels, each configured to direct flow of respective fluids through the heat exchanger core. Each first fluid channel includes first fluid flow assemblies having inner channels formed by inner channel walls that contain the first fluid, each inner channel surrounded by a barrier channel having a barrier channel wall that isolates the barrier channel from the second fluid. One or more barrier channel vanes support the inner channel within the barrier channel. Each barrier channel provides a void space between the inner channel wall and the barrier channel wall, thereby fluidly separating the first fluid from the second fluid. Each barrier channel can receive the first or second fluid in the event of a breach of the inner channel wall or the barrier channel wall, thereby preventing intra-fluid contamination.

A thermal energy transfer device attached to an object to dissipate thermal energy from the object is described. In one aspect, the device includes a non-metal base plate and first and second non-metal plate structures. The base plate includes at least one groove on one of its primary surfaces. An edge of the first plate structure is received in a first groove of the at least one groove of the base plate. An edge of the second plate structure is received in a second groove of the at least one groove of the base plate. At least the first groove or the second groove is a V-notch groove such that the edge of the first plate structure or the edge of the second plate structure that is received in the first groove or the second groove is interlockingly received in the V-notch groove.

Heat exchanger

A heat exchanger plate, where the plate is provided with a heat transfer surface having a corrugated pattern with a plurality of ridges and valleys, and where the heat exchanger plate is provided with a plurality of guiding sections, and where each guiding section has a first guiding surface and a second guiding surface, where the first and second guiding surfaces are perpendicular to each other. A heat exchanger having a plurality of heat exchanger plates is also disclosed. The advantage of this heat exchanger plate is that it allows for an improved alignment of the heat exchanger plates.

An evaporator (10) includes a substantially plate-like body member (12) defining an operatively outer surface (14) and an operatively inner surface (16), both surfaces (14, 16) being substantially smooth to inhibit detritus from attaching to the body member (12). The body member (12) is shaped to cause incoming fluid from which heat is to be extracted, in use, to follow an extended, circuitous path past the body member (12) initially along the outer (surface 14) of the body member (12) prior to the fluid impinging on the inner surface (16) of the body member (12).

Tube and heat exchanger provided with tube

A tube used in a heat exchanger, wherein a tube body includes a curved end portion, a pair of parallel portions, a pair of inclination portions, and a fixed portion in which a long end part extending from one of the pair of inclination portions is bent to hold therebetween a short end part extending from the other of the pair of inclination portions, and the tube is a pipe member having a flattened shape in cross-section. Poor brazing is reduced by making the inclination angle of at least part of the other inclination portion with respect to the flat plate portion larger than that of the one inclination portion.
