Flexible lance drive apparatus with autostroke function
An apparatus for sensing an obstruction within a tube being cleaned and repetitively advancing and retracting a flexible high pressure fluid cleaning lance within the tube is disclosed. The apparatus monitors drive roller/belt position and actual hose position, compares the belt (expected travel) to hose position (travel) and generates a position difference, or mismatch. If the mismatch is above a predetermined level, the drive motor direction is reversed for a predetermined time interval, and forward operation restored after the predetermined time interval; and the sequence of repeating the reversing and restoring operations is continued until the position difference or mismatch no longer exceeds the predetermined difference threshold.
CLEANING TUBESHEETS OF HEAT EXCHANGERS
A heat exchange system includes a shell having an interior with an inlet and an outlet wherein a first fluid circuit is defined from the inlet, through a heat exchange volume within the interior of the shell, to the outlet. A tubesheet is mounted within the shell dividing between the heat exchange volume and a plenum of a second fluid circuit within the interior of the shell. A set of tubes extends through the heat exchange volume, a respective interior passage of each tube being in fluid communication with the plenum through a respective opening though the tubesheet. The second fluid circuit includes the plenum and interior passages of the tubes. A spray nozzle is mounted in the plenum of the second fluid circuit with a spray outlet directed toward the tubesheet for cleaning the tubesheet with a submerged impingement jet issued from the spray nozzle.
Self-rotating tube cleaning nozzle assembly
A self-rotating tube cleaning nozzle assembly is disclosed that includes at least one debris exclusion feature. The nozzle assembly includes a main body defining an internal fluid passageway, a nozzle mounted to the main body, and a sleeve rotatably disposed about the main body. In one aspect, the sleeve having at least one discharge port in fluid communication with the main body internal fluid passageway for discharging a spray and rotating the sleeve about the main body. The debris exclusion feature is defined between the main body and the sleeve and includes a stepped portion on an exterior surface of the main body that faces and overlaps with a complementarily shaped stepped portion on an interior surface of the sleeve. The debris exclusion feature forms a tortuous pathway that eliminates or reduces contaminant ingress.

Tube bundle cleaning system and method
A tube cleaning system and method including a nozzle holder operable to secure nozzles in a nozzle arrangement, the nozzle arrangement corresponding to an arrangement of tubes of a tube bundle, and a nozzle positioning system operable to move the nozzle holder and nozzles secured therein, to cause the nozzles to engage a set of tubes of the tubes of the tube bundle, the nozzles configured to direct cleaning fluid into the set of tubes.
CLEANING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A cleaning system includes an explosive subsystem including: a plurality of detonation cords extending along a direction different from a vertical direction; and a locating assembly locating the plurality of detonation cords relative to each other. The locating assembly spaces each of the detonation cords apart from a system to be cleaned. The cleaning system includes a pressurized air blower assembly adjacent a portion of the system to be cleaned, the pressurized air blower assembly being configured to direct pressurized air towards the portion of the system to be cleaned after the detonation cords have been exploded.
Cleaning tubesheets of heat exchangers
A heat exchange system includes a shell having an interior with an inlet and an outlet wherein a first fluid circuit is defined from the inlet, through a heat exchange volume within the interior of the shell, to the outlet. A tubesheet is mounted within the shell dividing between the heat exchange volume and a plenum of a second fluid circuit within the interior of the shell. A set of tubes extends through the heat exchange volume, a respective interior passage of each tube being in fluid communication with the plenum through a respective opening though the tubesheet. The second fluid circuit includes the plenum and interior passages of the tubes. A spray nozzle is mounted in the plenum of the second fluid circuit with a spray outlet directed toward the tubesheet for cleaning the tubesheet with a submerged impingement jet issued from the spray nozzle.
Pro-boxer flexible lance positioner apparatus
A lance drive support apparatus is adapted to be fastened directly to a heat exchanger tube sheet adjacent a selected number of tubes to be cleaned. One embodiment includes an angled flat base plate having an inner center corner, an outer center corner, a first outer end corner and a second outer end corner, a support post adjacent each outer end corner, and the inner center corner fastened at one end to the base plate, and a top plate fastened to an opposite end of each support post. An extensible scissor arm assembly pivotally fastened to the inner center corner post can position a lance drive mechanism at a distal end of the scissor arm assembly at precise X and Y coordinates adjacent the tube sheet. The precise X and Y coordinates are determined by positions of X and Y cylinders connected to a common scissor arm assembly extension hinge.
CROSS-JET NOZZLE AND LANCE DEVICE
A cross-jet nozzle includes a rotor body, in which several channels are recessed or formed running from a nozzle tip in the direction of a stator body, in which at least two front jet nozzles are positioned in the rotor body through at least two front jet channels and oriented so that front jets of a pressurized medium emerging from the front jet channels intersect outside of the rotor body and the rotor body can be mounted to rotate around its longitudinal axis on the stator body, which can be connected to a high-pressure line connection, is introduced safely parallel into tubes by a drive unit of a lance device. The nozzle tip is provided with an outer surface so that the surface is configured convexly arched, dome-like and free of edges and the nozzle tip is formed mirror-symmetric with the longitudinal axis in profile.
Method for negating deposits using turbulence
A method for preventing fouling of an operating heat exchanger is disclosed. A carrier liquid is provided to the heat exchanger. The carrier liquid contains a potential fouling agent. The potential fouling agent is entrained in the carrier liquid, dissolved in the carrier liquid, or a combination thereof. The potential fouling agent fouls the heat exchanger by condensation, crystallization, solidification, desublimation, reaction, deposition, or combinations thereof. A gas-injection device is provided on the inlet of the heat exchanger. A non-reactive gas is injected into the carrier liquid through the gas-injection device. The non-reactive gas will not foul the heat exchanger surface and will not condense into the carrier liquid. The non-reactive gas creates a disturbance by increasing flow velocity and creating a shear discontinuity, thereby breaking up crystallization and nucleation sites on the surface of the heat exchanger. In this manner, fouling of the operating heat exchanger is prevented.
