A feeding device, in particular a compact ammunition feeding device for an automatic loading system, is provided in that the slide (5) can be actuated by means of a releasable contact with the actuating means (15), and/or the slide (5) acts on the shell segments (3, 4) via a control surface (10, 11) and a control element (6) interacting with the control surface (10, 11), the control element (6) moving along the control surface (10, 11) when the slide (5) is displaced linearly.
