A firearm operating system includes a housing, a central pivoting member disposed within the housing, a trigger including a portion disposed within the housing and a portion extending outside the housing such that the portion of the trigger within the housing includes a hole and at least one finger that extends in a first direction from the hole. Due to movement of the trigger, the at least one finger presses against the central pivoting member to cause the central pivoting member to rotate.

Trigger groups for striker-fired firearms have a firing pin assembly connected to a slide and operable to reciprocate between a rearward retracted position and a forward extended position, the firing pin assembly including a retention surface, a trigger assembly including a sear surface configured to selectively engage the retention surface to releasably restrain the firing pin assembly, the firing pin assembly being responsive to the trigger assembly to release from the retracted position to the extended position in response to movement of the trigger assembly from the forward trigger position to the rearward trigger position and to release from the retracted position to the extended position in response to movement of the trigger assembly from the rearward trigger position to the forward trigger position, the trigger assembly including a retainer movable between a clear position and a blocking position.

A firearm with safety mechanism in one embodiment includes a barrel supported by a housing, at least one cartridge-receiving chamber in communication with a bore of the barrel, and a rotatable hammer. The safety mechanism includes a biased safety component, which may be a blocking pin in one embodiment, mounted to and rotatable with the hammer. When the firearm is exposed to an abnormal impact force caused by bumping or dropping the firearm, the safety component changes position and interacts with a blocking feature on the hammer pivot pin to stop or delay the motion of the hammer in a manner which prevents discharging the firearm. The blocking feature may be a notch in one embodiment. Rotating the hammer between rearward cocked and forward firing positions alternatingly aligns or misaligns the blocking pin with the notch, respectively.

An apparatus and method for modifying a handgun to accept an optical sight comprises a modified slide mechanism adapted to include a flat recessed rear section configured to receive an adapter plate for mounting an optical sight. Various embodiments of the adapter include modified internal components used to replace stock components what will no longer fit within the modified profile of the slide mechanism. Replacement of the slide mechanism and associated internal components will allow a user to add an optical sight to an existing handgun.

When the striker is in the cocked position, the first sear is movable from an engaged position to a disengaged position in response to moving the trigger from the resting position to the pulled position. A second sear is movable from a blocking position to a non-blocking position in response to moving the trigger from the resting position to the pulled position. When the trigger is in the resting position, the second sear is positioned to halt forward motion of the striker from the cocked position to the fire position.

A trigger assembly is configured for a firearm having a striker movable along a bore axis between a cocked position and a fire position. The trigger assembly includes a trigger operable between a resting position and a pulled position. A first sear is operably coupled to the trigger and the striker. When the striker is in the cocked position, the first sear is movable from an engaged position to a disengaged position in response to moving the trigger from the resting position to the pulled position. A second sear is movable from a blocking position to a non-blocking position in response to moving the trigger from the resting position to the pulled position. When the trigger is in the resting position, the second sear is positioned to halt forward motion of the striker from the cocked position to the fire position.

The present invention relates to a pistol comprising a firing pin safety device integrated into a slide (5) of the pistol comprising a firing pin (1) comprising a lateral extension (25) comprising at least one safety lug (10,11) and a firing pin butterfly safety (2) positioned on an axis of rotation (27) fastened to the slide and parallel to the axis of translation of the firing pin (20), said butterfly safety (2) being able to rotate in a vertical plane between a firing position and a blocking position, said butterfly (2) comprising at least one bearing surface (17,18) on which the at least one lug (10,11) rests when said butterfly is in the blocking position and at least one recess (14) able to allow the at least one lug (10,11) to pass when said butterfly is in the shooting position, the center of mass of said butterfly (2) being on its axis of rotation (27) and the axis of rotation (27) being a main axis of inertia of said butterfly (2).
