RIFLE FRAME OF A BREAK-OPEN ACTION RIFLE HAVING A RECESS FOR RECEIVING AN EXTENDED PORTION OF A PRIMER CAP-PROPELLANT CHARGE ASSEMBLY
20210254914 · 2021-08-19 ·

A break open rifle having a barrel assembly with a breech end for receiving a propellant charge—primer cap assembly, a muzzle end, and a carve out, slot, indentation, cavity, or recess, which receives a portion of the propellant charge—primer cap assembly extending beyond the rim of the propellant charge. A ramp section of the recess, adjacent to the first end of the barrel assembly, is included to facilitate receiving the extension of the primer cap in a rotational fashion as the break open rifle is configured from the OPEN position to the CLOSED position. The recess and accompanying ramp section are configured to receive that portion of the primer cap which extends from the flush surface of the propellant charge rim, independent whether the configuration includes a barrel extension or not. The ramp is configured to receive the extended portion of the primer cap as the loaded rifle is placed in the CLOSED position to prepare for firing.

Adjustable pull trigger assembly

Adjustability of trigger pull force is enable by the use of a spring interfacing with a trigger shoe counterweight. The spring force is adjustable by use of a set screw interfacing with the spring. A pivot arm member acts between a trigger shoe counterweight and a firing pin release arm to fix the ratio of trigger shoe pull force and firing pin release arm force.

FIREARM

Improved firearms including one or more of a removable and/or interchangeable top cover, an improved extractor mechanism, a striker safety mechanism with a direct trigger interface, a sear with direct striker interface, and/or a striker with integral striker spring retention features.

Device for use in the humane slaughter of animals

A device for use in the humane slaughter of animals has a barrel and a cap arranged for limited reciprocal axial movement and urged to an inoperative position by a spring. A captive bolt is received in the barrel for reciprocal axial movement, the bolt being driven out of the barrel by a driving force provided by an explosive cartridge adapted to be received in a breech in the barrel. The cartridge is fired by striking a firing pin provided in the cap. The cartridge is mounted on a strip movable in response to a manual operation, and a registration device is provided between the strip and the cap to locate the cartridge relative to the open breech in the inoperative position. Movement of the barrel relative to the cap against the force of the spring places the cartridge in the breech and causes it to strike the firing pin to fire the cartridge and operate the captive bolt, the spring then returning the barrel and the cap to the inoperative position to open the breech and allow movement of the strip to remove the spent cartridge.
