A trigger assembly having a user-adjustable actuation force. The trigger assembly includes a trigger and indexing pin that are rotatable about a pivot axis and mounted to a locking block of a firearm. A torsion spring bridges the indexing pin and the locking block. Rotation of the indexing pin in a first rotational direction increases the actuation force of the trigger assembly, while rotation of the indexing pin in a second, opposite rotational direction decreases the actuation force. The end user is able to adjust the actuation force of the trigger without procuring additional components and without requiring the services of a locksmith. A safety trigger has a lower pivot point on the trigger and provides a stop that prevents retraction of the trigger unless the safety trigger is retracted first.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to trigger mechanisms for firearms. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the trigger mechanism can include a linkage between a striker sear and a main sear to control an amount of force exerted on the main sear by the striker sear. A portion of the force exerted on the striker sear by the striker can be exerted on the main sear through the sear linkage. In another aspect of the present disclosure, trigger mechanisms are described which additionally, or alternatively utilize one or more biasing members to provide a variable trigger pull weight.

A rearward-travel stop assembly for a firearm includes: a trigger guard portion; and an adjustable stop assembly coupled to the trigger guard portion and configured to limit rearward-travel of a trigger of the firearm by engaging a lower portion of the trigger.

Provided are multi-mode firearms, triggers, kits, and methods of use that allow a user to select between a semi-automatic firing mode and a pull-and-release firing mode that fires the firearm upon both pulling the trigger and releasing the trigger, by using the selector switch or other mechanism to change the amount the trigger can move. A safe mode that prevents the firearm from firing may also be selected in various example embodiments by using the selector switch or other mechanism to change the amount the trigger can move. In certain example embodiments the trigger cannot move at all in safe mode, can move more in semi-automatic mode, and can move yet more in pull-and-release mode. The modes can be positioned for selection in any order. Kits comprising a trigger assembly and a selector assembly are provided for retrofitting conventional semi-automatic firearms.

Provided are multi-mode firearms, triggers, kits, and methods of use that allow a user to select between a semi-automatic firing mode and a pull-and-release firing mode that fires the firearm upon both pulling the trigger and releasing the trigger, by using the selector switch or other mechanism to change the amount the trigger can move. A rifle or portable firearm assembly (e.g., 310) configured to work with user-actuable sensors and systems (e.g., S1-S4), comprises a removable receiver assembly 312 attached to and responsive to a trigger assembly 50 which are removably received in a stock or chassis 316 having a middle section 324 with a trigger motion sensing sidewall segment with at least one trigger motion sensor (e.g., 340L, 340R) which does not physically contact or attach to the trigger assembly and is instead spaced from every component of the trigger assembly when the receiver is installed in said stock or chassis. The trigger motion sensor is configured to sense, from a selected standoff distance, without contacting or interfering the trigger assembly in any way, at least one of (a) the trigger's first stage movement or (b) actuation of a safety lever, and generate a “trigger motion sensed” signal in response thereto.

A slidable trigger assembly for a firearm is described. The slidable trigger comprises a main body housing a trigger and a sear and a slider, slidably coupled with the main body. The slidable trigger assembly may include a slide adjuster configured to set the sear at a target position with respect to the slider. Alternatively, the slider moves laterally in response to physical manipulation of the slidable trigger assembly to set the sear at a target position with respect to the slider.
