In a closed magnetic loop configuration, the trigger mechanism includes a stationary yoke and pivotably movable trigger member. The trigger member includes a trigger portion and working portion operably interfaced with the firing mechanism of the firearm for discharging the firearm. An openable first air gap formed between the trigger member and yoke is maintained in a closed position via magnetic attraction therebetween absent a trigger pull. A control insert movable relative to a second control air gap in the yoke allows adjustment of the static magnetic field to alter the trigger pull force required to actuate the trigger mechanism. Other embodiments provide open magnetic loop trigger mechanism designs adjustable to magnetically vary the trigger pull force.

An encasement that is designed to hold a trigger and the trip mechanism directly on the firing pin. In this invention, the trip mechanism consists of a trigger, a tripper, which is in contact with the trigger and a trip, which is attached to the tripper and is designed to pivot when firing the firearm. An adjustment pin is provided to set the tension on the trigger and tripper so that a minimum force is required to hold the assembly in the cocked position, ready for firing. The length and shape of the tripper as well as the encasement body are all designed based on the type of firearm that the action is installed. This is to allow the trip to fit against the firing pin as a sear would. The encasement must also be designed to fit into the existing structure of the firearm.

The firearm may include a trigger group having a trigger prop that ensures that, when the trigger is released in the fully automatic open bolt mode, the bolt carrier stops in an open bolt position held by an open bolt sear. The trigger prop may include a foot that, following a first trigger pull in the fully automatic open bolt mode, slides under and props a rear end of the trigger in a position that allows the open bolt sear to catch the bolt carrier when the trigger is released and propped but prevents the trigger sear from engaging the hammer.
