Crossbows are provided having a barrel with one limb and one winding system mounted to each of two opposite sides of the barrel. Each winding system has a limb string connected to one of the limbs and a limb cam about which the limb string can be wound. The limb cams are connected to and positioned apart from arrow string cams by respective interconnects and an arrow string extends across the barrel from an arrow string cam on one side of the barrel to an arrow string cam on the other side of the barrel. The limbs provide first forces urging the limb strings to unwind from the limb cams and the interconnects receive the first forces and convey a second forces to the arrow cams urging the arrow cams to rotate so as to wind the arrow strings onto the arrow cams. The arrow string is drawn against such urging.

A firing system for a crossbow having an arrow rest extending along an arrow rest axis, the firing system having a right limb and a left limb, the right limb being pivotable about a right limb axis and the left limb being pivotable about a left limb axis, the firing system further including a right cam and a left cam, the right cam having a right bow string groove and being rotatable about a right cam axis, the left cam having a left bow string groove and being rotatable about a left cam axis, the firing system having a bow string extending between the right and left cams and extending within the right and left bow string grooves, the bow string positionable between an un-cocked condition and a cocked or full draw condition wherein movement of the bow string from the un-cocked condition toward the cocked condition moves the right and left cams toward each other and pivots the right and left limbs about the right and left limbs axes respectively, the firing system further including a power assembly having a power cable and a spring assembly, the power cable having a forward end operably joined to the right and left limbs and a rear end operably joined to the spring assembly, the spring assembly having a power spring extending along a power spring axis between a first spring end and a second spring end and having a central spring opening, the power spring being below the arrow rest, the power cable extending through the central spring opening from the first spring end toward the second spring end, the rear end of the power cable being operably joined relative to the second spring end of the power spring, moving the bow string from the un-cocked condition to the cocked condition causing the right and left limbs to the pull forward end of the power cable forwardly wherein the operable engagement with the second spring end compressing the power spring by pulling the second spring end toward the first spring end to produce the shooting force to propel the archery arrow.

The second power group includes a plurality of second power group drawstring pulleys. At least one of the plurality of second power group drawstring pulleys is attached to the frame. The drawstring is configured to be routed at least partially around the first and second power group drawstring pulleys.

Crossbow having trigger mechanism with arrow retention

A nock for an archery arrow or bolt. The nock includes a radial indention configured to be engaged by a biased retainer of a trigger mechanism of a crossbow to retain the arrow or bolt in a desired position relative to the trigger mechanism and/or a bowstring. The radial indention may optionally comprise a groove defined generally continuously around a circumference of the nock. The radial indention is exposed when the nock is coupled with an arrow or bolt such that the radial indention may be engaged by a biased retainer within the trigger mechanism. The nock may further include a generally planar rearward bearing surface configured for being engaged by a bowstring. The nock of the present invention may be suitable for use with a multiple-shot crossbow or a single-shot crossbow. Other aspects of the present invention are directed to a projectile, a projectile retention system, and a crossbow.

RESET MECHANISM FOR A BOW

A bow may have a string latch that holds a bowstring and that can be moved into three distinct positions. One activator may be used to prevent the string latch from being moved into its second position. A second activator may be used to prevent the string latch from being moved into its third position. A third activator may be used to move the first and second activators to prevent the string latch from being moved into its second or third positions.

An arrow retention device of a crossbow includes a fixing member which has one end thereof fixed to the shooting device, and an installation slot is defined axially in the underside of the fixing member. An arm is pivotably inserted into the installation slot and has a first end and a second end. The first end is exposed beyond the installation slot, and the second end of the arm is inserted into the shooting device. A restriction rod extends from each of two sides of the arm. A pushing spring connected to the top of the arm is biased between the second end of the arm and the shooting device. A retention member is connected to the arm and includes a contact portion for pressing an arrow. When shooting the arrow, the pushing spring pivots the arm back, and the contact portion is separated from the arrow.
