Arrow gun with controlled retention force and barrel vibration damping

An arrow gun is provided having a controllable retention force on the arrow. By setting the retention force on the arrow, increased energy from motive compressed gas can be imparted to the arrow. The arrow gun also includes a damping coupling for reducing vibration of an unsupported length of the barrel.

A spear for use with a spear gun includes a hollow shaft having a leading end and a trailing end opposite the leading end, a piston retained in the hollow shaft and configured to slide within the hollow shaft, and a check valve. The piston forms a seal with an inner surface of the hollow shaft and divides the hollow shaft into a pre-charge chamber toward the leading end and a firing charge chamber toward the trailing end. The check valve is in fluid communication with the pre-charge chamber and is configured to permit a pressurized gas pre-charge to enter the pre-charge chamber and restrict the gas pre-charge in the pre-charge chamber from exiting the pre-charge chamber.

A speargun having ratchet mounted to or integrated into the stock of the speargun to aids in the stretching of the elastic bands to load the speargun. The ratchet is connected to the elastic bands and allows a user to stretch the elastic bands to load the speargun incrementally instead of all at once. The ability to incrementally load the power using a ratchet not only makes it easier to load the speargun, but also enables the same speargun to be used for a variety of spearfishing applications where different amounts of force are optimal to propel the spear.

Device for launching a projectile using a compressed fluid

A device for launching using compressed fluid, comprises: a projectile, a barrel having two ends, the projectile being positioned inside the barrel, a first of the two ends allowing the compressed fluid to enter the barrel, a second of the two ends allowing the projectile to leave, a reservoir of compressed fluid connected to the first of the two ends of the barrel. A connecting device comprises a first tape, able to make the transition from a configuration in which it is wound about an axis Z around a support to a configuration in which it is deployed along an axis X substantially perpendicular to the axis Z, the tape having an end fixed to the projectile, and wherein the support is fixed in the barrel.
