A door mounting apparatus for securing a firearm to a door. The door mounting apparatus may be used to secure any type of handgun to an interior side of a door near the top out of the reach of children. The door mounting apparatus comprises a door attachment component and a reversible holster. The door attachment component hooks over the top of the door and uses a hook and loop fastening system to attach the reversible holster to the door attachment component. The reversible holster has a hook and loop fastening system on both sides so that the firearm may be stored in a left-handed or right-handed orientation. A quick release component holds the firearm within the reversible holster until needed.

Representative implementations of devices and techniques provide locking systems and/or retention mechanisms for an implement holster (such as a handgun holster, for example). Additionally, an implement holster having one or more locking systems and/or retention mechanisms is also described. Locking systems and retention mechanisms may be used individually with a holster or combined for multi-level security of the implement. The one or more locking systems can provide obstruction to the removal of the implement from the holster until intentionally unlocked by the user. Locking systems include hood locks, ejection port locks, and sight covers. Adjustable retention mechanisms can provide a desired retention of the implement while holstered, retaining the implement until a sufficient force is applied to remove the implement.

Representative implementations of devices and techniques provide a belt for an implement holster comprising multiple stacked layers, including reinforcement layers enclosed within outer layers of the belt. The construction of the belt allows the belt to be worn with garments that do not necessarily include belt loops, such as active wear and women's formal wear. An implement holster may be coupled to the belt, using one or more clip loops, to form an active carry holster assembly.

The adapter plate comprises a substantially planar adapter body, a spaced pair of generally parallel upper for removably securing said adapter assembly to equipment, and a spaced pair of lower legs having a spaced pair of lower tines configured to have a gap there between, wherein the lower tines each comprise a ratchet tooth structure on an exterior surface thereof. The retainer is configured for slideable attachment to the lower tines and for spanning the gap between the lower tines, the retainer comprising a corresponding ratchet tooth on an interior surface thereof configured to engage with the ratchet tooth structure for a one-way slideable locking engagement of the retainer on the lower tines.
