Lithium containing glass with high and low oxidized iron content, and products using same

A low infrared absorbing lithium glass includes FeO in the range of 0.0005-0.015 wt. %, more preferably 0.001-0.010 wt. %, and a redox ratio in the range of 0.005-0.15, more preferably in the range of 0.005-0.10. The glass can be chemically tempered and used to provide a ballistic viewing cover for night vision goggles or scope. A method is provided to change a glass making process from making a high infrared absorbing lithium glass having FeO in the range of 0.02 to 0.04 wt. % and a redox ratio in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 to the low infrared absorbing lithium glass by adding additional oxidizers to the batch materials. A second method is provided to change a glass making process from making a low infrared absorbing lithium glass to the high infrared absorbing lithium glass by adding additional reducers to the batch material. In one embodiment of the invention the oxidizer is CeO.sub.2. An embodiment of the invention covers a glass made according to the method.

A guard for protecting the scope and action of a hunting rifle or the action of a shotgun. The guard can be folded around the scope and action of the rifle or around the action of the shotgun and is held in place by magnets positioned along opposite edges of the guard. The other edges of the guard are gathered by elastic material so that when the guard is folded around the scope and action of the rifle or around the action of the shotgun, the other edges form a cuff around the pistol grip of the rifle or shotgun and a cuff around the forend of the rifle or shotgun.

Firearm sight with retractable sunshade

A firearm sight comprises a sight body including a clamp at its lower extent for removably securing the sight to a portion of a firearm. An upwardly facing surface is disposed on the sight body above the clamp and a housing projects above the upwardly facing portion, the housing containing a lens assembly. A shade is carried by the sight body, the shade movable along the sight body from a retracted position in which the shell is at least partially contained by the housing, and an extended position in which the shell extends over the upwardly facing surface.

Internal Scope Cap
20180313635 · 2018-11-01 ·

An internal scope cap affixes onto a scope for a firearm to protect and enclose a scope lens of the scope. The internal scope cap includes an iris diaphragm and a scope mount. The iris diaphragm allows the user to adjust an iris opening to expose or enclose the scope lens. The iris opening is formed from a plurality of iris blades that are manipulated through a blade actuator. As the blade actuator is rotated, the diameter of the iris opening is adjusted proportionately to the angular rotation. The iris diaphragm is removably connected to the scope mount to allow the user to interchange and remove the iris diaphragm from the scope mount. The scope mount affixes the internal scope cap onto the scope of the firearm. A glare-reduction lattice and a protective lens are implemented to reduce glint and glare to the user, while gazing through the scope.

Optic cover with releasably retained display
10107593 · 2018-10-23 · ·

A cover for use with an optic device to hold and display shooting information. The cover may have resilient retention members that allow a display to be releasably attached and detached from the cover. The display may be made from a single substrate or multiple substrates in order to make the shooting information contained thereon highly visible in a variety of conditions and shooting preferences.

GUN SCOPE RELEASE COVER SYSTEM
20240328753 · 2024-10-03 ·

A dual release gun scope cover system for use with a gun scope having an eye piece end and a front objective lens end. The gun scope cover system has a cylindrical eye piece engagement mount with a lens cover and a cylindrical front end engagement mount with a lens cover. The lens covers are retained in closed position on the respective scope engagement mounts by magnetic attraction to a control action rod extending there between for simultaneous release and gun scope use.

Protective scope cover design

A protective cap for cylindrically mounted optical elements includes a retaining ring which is placed on a cylinder ring so as to be rotatable. The retaining ring covers the circumferential surface of the cylinder ring in a form-fitting manner. A latching mechanism having a latching element which engages in the latching mechanism in a force-fitting or form-fitting manner is present between the cylinder ring and retaining ring. The latching element is releaseable by an actuating element which is mounted on the retaining ring. A folding hinge for fastening and moving a protective cover from a covering position into a spatially fixed open position is present on the retaining ring.
