SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SIGHTING FIREARMS

A boresighting system may include a laser boresight device and a parallax mitigation device. The laser boresight device may include a casing for loading into a chamber of a firearm in place of a bolt carrier group, where the casing accepts a laser device for generating a laser beam within an interior cavity of the casing. The parallax mitigation device may include a housing for securing to an optical sight and a central position indicator providing a visual indication of a central position of the optical sight. Boresighting may be provided by adjusting an eye position to view a laser spot on a target associated with the laser beam at the central position of the optical sight based on the central position indicator and adjusting the optical sight to overlap an alignment reference provided by the optical sight with the laser spot at the central position of the optical sight.

EXTENDED RANGE MULTI-CALIBER IN-BORE LASER BORESIGHT SYSTEM

Disclosed is an extended range multi-caliber in-bore laser boresight system for sighting in a firearm. The device includes one or more hollow cartridge cases that resemble a standard firearm case lacking a bullet, a laser module, and an external electronic package. The laser module fits within the hollow cartridge case and is positioned within a firearm chamber. The laser exits the hollow cartridge through the firearm barrel to aid with zeroing a firearm sighting system. The laser diode is powerful enough to be visible at extended ranges in bright sunlight. The inventive boresight system can be used for zeroing any desired caliber, such as from 5.56 NATO to .50 BMG at extended range.

PROTECTIVE COVER WITH ALIGNMENT APERTURE

The disclosure relates to viewing optics, and more particularly to a protective cover for a viewing optic. The disclosure relates to a zero cap a base; an aperture cap configured to hingedly connect to the base; and a cap plug configured to rotate on the aperture cap.

A firearm sighting optic that can have the lenses easily and quickly replaced by the user is disclosed. This sighting optics allows the lens to be inserted from the bottom of a red dot sighting unit and then be secured by set screws. The firearm sighting optic includes a base and a hood. The lens is removably retained with the firearm sighting optic by user removable fasteners securing the hood to the base. The lens is housed in a hood that makes sliding the replacement lens into the unit much easier. The hood and base include an interconnecting protrusion and recess for reliable alignment of the lens within the hood and the base.

An aiming device is provided including an illumination device and an optical element wherein the illumination device projects a primary dot and at least one secondary alignment dot distal from the primary dot to aid a user in obtaining a view of the primary dot when the aiming device is in an aligned mode, the primary dot is visible within a field of view of the user, but the secondary alignment dot is not visible. When the aiming device is in a misaligned mode, the secondary alignment dot is visible to the user, but the primary dot is not. The secondary alignment dot provides instruction to the user to realign the aiming device relative to the field of view of the user so that the aiming device transitions to the aligned mode. A related method of operation is provided.

RIFLE SCOPE MOUNTING HEIGHT ASSESSMENT TOOL

A rifle scope mounting height assessment tool has a frame having a mounting facility configured to removable connect to the mounting facility of the rifle, a cradle movably connected to the frame and operable to move among a plurality of different vertical positions, the cradle defining a rifle scope support passage, and a retention element operable to secure the cradle relative to the frame in a selected one of the plurality of different vertical positions. The cradle may be constrained for only vertical translation movement with respect to the frame. The cradle may be moved only in translation with respect to the frame. The cradle may define an upwardly open channel. The rifle scope support passage may include a lower surface portion facing upward and configured to contact a lower surface of a cylindrical scope tube.

A rifle scope alignment apparatus having a light source that shines through a void space and through a rifle scope. The rifle scope alignment apparatus has two stepped wedges that engage the front end of a rifle scope and has a flat top v-groove to engage a rifle barrel. The light source illuminates the crosshairs of the rifle scope which casts a shadow of the crosshairs onto an elevated diamond-shaped target having a rounded hole and a vertical line and horizontal line.

Known “good” reference lines are provided for scope leveling using a reference device support platform attached to a rifle such that the reference device support platform first surface is parallel to rifle's horizontal bore center line and perpendicular to rifle's vertical bore center line. An alignment reference device, such as a laser leveling device, is then placed on the reference device support platform. When the alignment reference device is so placed, a horizontal axis of the alignment reference device will be parallel to the rifle's horizontal bore center line and a vertical axis of the alignment reference device will be perpendicular to the rifle's horizontal bore center line. Consequently, when vertical and/or horizontal reference lines are generated by the alignment reference device they are known “good” reference lines to be lined up with the scope's stadia lines.

ZERO-STOP TURRET

A zero-stop mechanism comprises first and second stop members and a movement limit member. The second stop member is releasably secured to an adjustment mechanism. The movement limit member extends around a turret assembly and has a substantially annular main body from which a lug extends. In a first rotational direction of the adjustment mechanism, the second stop member comes into contact with a first side of the lug whereby the main body is rotated in the first rotational direction until a second side of the lug comes into contact with the first stop member. In a second rotational direction of the adjustment mechanism, the second stop member comes into contact with the lug second side whereby the main body is rotated in the second rotational direction until the lug first side contacts the first stop member.
